At first, despite loosing money, I thought it was fun and I sort of respected the move. But If we look further the "troll" what just happened last night was totally immature, and lacking in jugement.

The market just dumped, and he could have personally profited from it. I clearly understand that the point was to fuck with daily traders. What he did was actually really really bad... He mislead people knowing the fact that his announcement would create confidence in the project.

He wanted to get rid of pumps and dumps but he clearly made a short position knowing people would be tricked.
Some peoples new to cryptos have lost thousands of $ by putting all their eggs into the monero.

You can't be on the inside and act like this. People in companies that do this go to jail. That is not the kind of person I want writing my privacy-focused crypto-currency.

EDIT: For understanding watch the videos of the announcement : http://mea.business/

i honestly don't think he shorted XMR.  but yes, he knowingly took advantage of his position to fuck the market.  and now he's going around saying "see! i taught you a lesson not to trust anybody!"  real fucking mature.  how about you let Monero users/hodlers decide that for themselves and not blatantly screw people over.  that move may have killed XMR, time will tell.

In this case, you should learn how to research a coin before blindly investing in her. A lot of altcoins have great potential with a team behind who aims to develop a ecosystem around the coin and they don't deserve your hate. Don't blame every coin because you made a stupid choice with a scam coin.

Doubt it. Many are selling now but it keeps at its support lines. This influenced time shortterm (few hours) but a stunt like does does not change TA.

I also think his stunt is hypocritical by the way, and I think he fucked over "monero enthusiasts" a lot more than the "pump & dump" crowd, because the pump&  dump crowd is probably playing the market really well right now and making a ton out of these 25% price fluctuations.

I personnaly think he shorted the market. But there never will be any proof of that.
Everyone earned extremely well in this market in the last weeks and months, so nobody should cry for the loss.
The gain was artificial and so was the loss.

My main concern is that monero is a great project but with what happend less people will donate their time and money to Monero because the trust is gone and their money is now gone too...

A good increase in the price the previous day and negative statements coming the next day will surely affect the altcoins ecosystem. Users have quoted as a whole blaming the altcoin network though there are good altcoins similar to eth, doge, creditbit, etc have been growing good just because of the good development team. Fake volume issue happened with bitcoin causing a downtrend, now the same has happened in one among the altcoin.

Actually, I think a lot of people on twitter that are now congratulating him are people who profited from this either by selling and rebuying lower, or shorting. Which makes Fluffy unrightfully think some truly love his action as a good statement. Some will probably agree for real though, but I doubt they have given it enough time to really let it sink in and think about all effects this could have short & long term.

Aren't "monero enthusiasts" into monero because of the technology?

Yes, but they like money too. I didn't say he took the tech away from them. But the pump & dump crowd benefitted more from this. You never know which longterm effects this will have.

True, longterm effects are hard to predict. I hope people learn from this and really think about why it happened they way it did. And what each one of us can do, to not let something like this happen in the future. I think it would be unwise to only blame fluffypony. Everyone who was affected by this has some responsibility for what happened.

The problem is that Monero was gaining stability and being perceived as a non volatile store of wealth and this has shaken that foundation. That i believe is the true disservice that Ricardo has accomplished. Monero has always been above this type of behavior and that is another reason why it has shocked us so much.

My tinfoil hat says he is looking to distance himself and this of course will certainly do that as well as remove him as the face but who can fill that vacuum? I think anyone that does is not going to like the position they find themselves in as I have no doubt TPTB have been making moves and being in the spotlight of the worlds best fungible coin can be (will become|all ready is) a terrifying place to be.

Announcement was real or fake in the monero , I am not sure because I have no evidence regrading this altcoin .
Since I invested about 0.03btc but after two days I sold it because I needed money for my daily need , so I get loss due to soon sell at low rate and also I am seeing that the rate is now very low then at what rate I sold , thank God I saved my money .
But still here there is another thing about the altcoin is that , all this depends upon the demand in the crypticurrency exchange sites , if demand is high then price will speedly rise and vice versa .
So here we can't blaim anyone for the loss , because loss and profit are the part of the trading .
But thanks to you that you shared this news .
Note : I am not saying that announcement was fake or real :•

We've been fooled. I thought it would pump. But it dumps hard. What the hell? This is very bad. Now im back to zero again. I will buy monero again. I fall too hard. This is a dead coin. Most of the altcoins were dumped very huge. I will not buy ant altcoin until bitcoin is not dropping. The price was good yesterday. Then i saw the price today. Its all in red marks.

Basically it is indeed a project is indeed still not can be said to be successful if they have a good consistent level. The project is indeed profitable, but you also have to look at what is being done is not just looking at a profit. Because everyone could say that these projects are profitable, but we'll never know exactly what is being done by the team. When the project was indeed made by the team has a good level then it certainly will benefit greatly

I agree. He actually helped the day traders, since they were probably prepared to sell at the time of the "announcement".
The trading newbies were the main losers, I guess.
And the XMR hodlers may have just bought seeing that the 50$ barrier was smashed and hoping that the 100$ is near. Disappointing...

Not only the trading newbies. Also the people new to crypto, looking up on different coins. Really liking what they read about Monero (because after all, the tech is pretty solid) as a promising coin and not some PR bullshit. But haven't followed Fluffy yet on Twitter and don't know yet about his trollish behaviour. Then they go to an exchange and buy some.

Those people got burned pretty badly today. We don't know when the price will recover. Maybe they panic sold, and you can't blame them if they see something like that happening (especially if they're new and don't have the luxury of being in the positive anyway like we do). They couldn't have foreseen this, not having the experience we have with the charts, monero prize, crypto as a whole, ...

One of the arguments I read on Reddit I strongly agreed with: Fluffy said to not buy it if you have no practical use for it, but what if some Venezuelan family just bought some to protect themselves from repressive government? And they already had so little money.

Even if the tech is good if the team behind it isn't professional enough to its users then it will end up worthless.
