GPU wins by KO, unless you have access to some NASA/army supercomputer without GC  Grin

Granted, CPU mining Litecoins is more viable than CPU mining Bitcoins (https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Mining-hardware-comparison), but as the others are saying, GPUs give a much better hash/watts ratio.

That is for sha256 hashing. Look at litecoin hardware comparison

AMD 7-series cards provide the most "bang for your buck" so to speak (easiest, yet still time consuming ROI) and are your best friends for mining :-)

7950 is the best bang, I get 660KHS per card for around $280 each after rebates.

GPU, unless you have a computer with ~160 cpu's, then cpu is better.

You can mine CPU but really your going to spend more on power than you will get in LTC
