Hey there, we made a little article about Bitcoin gaming.
Bitcoin Gaming and regular games that start adopting Bitcoin for their in-game economic system may be one of the greatest breakthroughs Bitcoin will see in the near future.

What are your thoughts? Discuss!

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

Of course there are a lot of resources to go to in order to find Bitcoin Games, but we are more interested in the implications of Bitcoin Gaming.

Implications are positive...
It's VERY important to increase the velocity of BTC...
Even if it's via dodgy "entertainment" sites.

Because you can't really call BTC a "currency" unless velocity increases by 5-10 times...
Right now it's a "commodity" that people are hoarding.

These guys are the first UK games company to accept Bitcoin:

http://missing-ink.com/

This MMORPG was conceived before Bitcoin, rather than being developed for it.

I am really excited to see what games will really take advantage of the nature of BTC rather than just "accepting" it, check out our casino for reference, 5 years ago it would be an extremely long process to place a single bet on a live roulette table, registration, sending documents, confirming the age, sending the payment, passing all the casino filters, waiting for it to clear et cetera.

Now you can place a bet and collect your winnings instantaneously, I think it would be great to see live MMORPG worlds generated using the blockchain and the in-game currency would be BTC, every player would be able to deposit and withdraw so the economy would have to be very well balanced.

I could probably make a RunUO script that would exchange UO gold to BTC but my audience would be a counterculture community within a counterculture community.

In Wurm Online you can mine ingame money with the CoinLab miner

http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/61990-coinlab-faq-how-to-earn-silver-coins-with-your-graphics-card/

You sign in, get the miner, enter the name of your character and you mine. The ingame money will be directly received ingame as you mine  Wink

Note that Wurm ingame money works a bit different than ingame money of other games like WoW or EVE.
