Just in case this someone want’s to take a look at some merit data, I’ve taken the 137 candidates from @Peanutswar’s list, and added the remaining until @DireWolfM14, totalling 152 candidates so far (providing there are no oversights).
I’ve then drawn-up the number of merits per main board for each candidate, in accordance to something I did earlier on for my local board for Chipmixer’s participants (names derived from google sheet).

The information is provided in the following sheet. It may come in useful to play around with filters and ordering to determine potential best candidates (being the assumed premise that merits and the associated boards is a driver, and not accounting for the number of posts themselves).

I think there is nothing wrong doing that, as we all know merit is a reflection of good posts on this forum, but what we can still just do is to make suggestion for bitmover if he can include more users, like first 50 users. And to make it more accurate, there are some new members with quality posts too that should not be excluded, why not bitmover also have a separate animations for these new members. Just in a suggestion, in a way it will not be bring up people thinking otherwise.

You are making one very important omission that's giving everybody false hope, this campaign does not select people solely based on merit.

...by observing how DS chooses the campaign candidates you can tell that he usually looks for the best canditiate/s within certain boards and not just the best overall, or else he would simply count on the number of earned merit, but that isn't the case.

Graphics like this are great, but as Charles-Tim pointed out, including more members could be interesting as well.

I think he's aware of that and he's just bringing in a bit more data , which certainly does come into play a bit at the time of selection (it's still a guess but I don't think darkstar is heading straight for bad posters...)

Not even close... that was the "theory"... the reality is far, far different.

Honestly, in my opinion, for what it is worth... merit is one of the most useless metrics of "post quality" on this forum. Aside from the complete subjectivity of what someone believes to be a "good" post, it's been "abused" and "sold" too much for it to be of any true value in determining "post quality"

I must say i totally agree, before i stop spamming this thread.

In addition to the notion of subjectivity, and disregarding some potential merits shenanigans between some users, merit sources can also 'reward' a regularity of post (in small and not very active local sections for example) even when merited posts aren't  A++ quality  . That's how i feel.

I haven't checked it, but I hope that the statistics only count the merits which were received from others. So if you were legendary at the time of the introduction of the merit system and got 1000 merits, in my opinion this should not be counted. otherwise it wouldn't be fair
