Help a beginner build his 1st rig

Hi there,

I'm about to build my 1st rig, but as I'm unsure about some components, I'd like to ask for your help. I'm thinking to build a 4 GPUs rig to keep it simple and easy. I'm leaving 6 or more GPUs for hopefully near future. GPUs are 4GB RX570. I'm thinking 4GB RAM and 1151 motherboard.

The first question would be what motherboard exactly? I'd like it to be 1151 with DDR4 and of course cheapest one possible. Are ASRock B150M Pro4V or MSI H110M PRO-VDP any good? Anything better and cheaper?

The other question is about the PSU. I did some reading and I'm thinking Seasonic M12II-850 Bronze or Seasonic SSR-850GD Prime Gold. Both are 850W, first one is silver, 2nd is gold, but both actually have single 70V line. I'm planning to undervolt and downclock the core of the GPUs and overclock the memory. I saw a guy using the silver PSU doing 0.92V core at 1100 with 2060MHz memory, all with modified BIOS and his total draw from the wall is around 550W with that setup. My goal would be something similar. Would those PSUs be sufficient?

The final question would be what kind of risers and from where? I'm in Europe and can shop from German or British amazon or ebay for example. No chinese or US stores, please. I don't want to wait that long.

The rig will be used mainly for Etherium and probably ZCash or for dual Etherium + Decred.

Any other advise, comments, etc. is more, than welcome.

The PSU would be enough, I've a similar psu and im doing 3 gpus on it and it runs fine, only reason i can not get 4 is because i lost the cable, also almost any powered riser would be okay, they should be 6-9 euros each, i can't comment on the mother board as ive never heard of them but most 1150 motherboards can take 4 gpus fine.

I'm currently using an EVGA 850 B2 on a 4 GPU rig, ~570W from the wall after mods, ~720W stock. You should be fine. I don't think you can get anything better AND cheaper as far as motherboards go, maybe better and slightly more expensive.

What do you have in mind? I already had a bad feedback for the ASRock one, so only option for now is the MSI board, but I hate to have only 1 choice, so any recommendation for similar 4 GPU board for similar price would be appreciated.

I like to go with gaming motherboards as they usually have more features and tend to be built with higher quality components and will last longer; however, any component is subject to failure.

To give a good answer..... how much do you want to invest?

Check MSI Gaming 170 M5

CPU 4400 (Skylake) or 6100T

RAM 4GB or 8 GB

SSD (M2 is possible)

Yeah those B150 boards are no longer in production, which is why I recommended the B250. It will give you everything you need and some.

But god damn, everyone is mining I couldn't find any cards in stock in whole Europe I'll post an update as soon as I get my hands on some frickin cards

Quick and dirty:

gamer case with 4 (in total) 120mm intake (!) fans
650 - 850W gold powersupply, maybe EVGA 750 GQ
ASRock B150M / B250M motherboard (take care of the space between the 2 PCI-E x16!)
2 x 4 GB DDr4
G4400 / G4600 CPU
any 120GB SSD for the OS, maybe USB-Stick with Linux
2 x GTX-1080Ti

... (no mess around with risers and so) should ROI fast !

Would FSP Hyper S700, 700W be enough for 4 1060 3GB? Or FSP RAIDER S 750W ? Or Seasonic SSP-750RT?

Quick ROI.. mining what? take ZCL. that's 3 months of mining.
