Mining software

Hey I have recently placed the order for my first rig. I am currently playing with Geth and so on, trying to figure out how to connect to the actual mining pool when I will choose one.

My question is, can someone show me a step by step tutorial that is not outdated?

1) Download nicehash miner https://github.com/nicehash/NiceHashMiner/releases/tag/1.7.5.12
2) Extract files
3) Start program
4) Insert BTC wallet address
5) Press benchmark
6) Start benchmarking
7) Press start, it will automatically choose best coin for mining and payout in BTC to your wallet.

thank you for your response, that's pretty much plug and go. Is there a difference between the software front like nicehash and the CMD screen that I keep seeing around?

CMD set tools can be used on nicehash too, but CMD set tools also can mine on different pools, nicehash guide is the simplest for start, get your mining going until you lean more and more.

Small differences - for a small newb like me nicehash is what I started with and very happy with it, very easy to use. I've moved on to different pools but that's because I like tinkering learning and tweaking things. Nicehash is awesome though because I knew absolutely zero and it was up and running with a couple clicks.

Yeah, I would recommend all newbies to use NiceHash at the start. It's a very nice and convenient service that I personally believe to be worth using even after you have learned the ropes. Of course, once you have learned some of the basics of cryptomining it can be fun to branch out and do things more "from scratch" so to speak. *insertnerdfacehere*

Does nicehash support multi rig mining? Have nvidia + MSI cards and was going to go with a win10+claymore build but still exploring software options..

(edit) Saw on the features page of github it does support multi rig/gpu mining. Looks like ill give win10+nicehash a shot

When you have multiple miners it's often a good idea to look at Awesome Miner. It can do management and monitoring of both GPU mining and ASIC mining, and includes a large number of features for both small scale and large scale mining operations.

The screenshot below gives an idea what Awesome Miner looks like. It supports several popular GPU mining software, including the Claymore miners.
