took some fine tuning but these are the config settings used to achieve 516 MH/s @ 69C;   UPDATE 5/22/2013   516MH/s, -20% voltage, powercolor 7870 tahiti LE, temp is at 69C

Hardware cost break even 80-93 days.  (At $121.03 per Bitcoin - Today Rate 5/22/2013)

I'd like to note this is with the stock fan.

your memory clock is too high for mining BTC
OR you have to keep it that way to get the speed?
BTW any info on voltage un/locked? and power consumption from the wall?

Voltage is unlocked,

How is my memory speed too high?  If its too high, how do I lower it?   To my knowledge the memory can run 5500 to 6000mhz.

The 7930 that disguised itself as a 7870, just wish they would sell them at the same price as the cheapest normal 7870 models. You wouldn't happen to know how much the card draws at stock? I've read that they pull almost as much as a 7950 at the same freq/voltage.

i don't have a kill-a-watt to read the power draw.   i actually heard they can draw under 100w when you undervolt them.

for mining BTC, you can lower your memory to insanely low
eg 150, 300 or most ppl will reduce it to 600, this will not affect mining performance, you can try

i have ram set at 150mhz, after checking it shows its actually at 1361mhz when i bitcoin mine.

So my question to you is how exactly do i lower my ram to 150mhz?  what utility?  what flags?  Suggesting an action is good, but I need to know how to lower my memory mhz more.  This card can hit 5.5ghz to 6ghz memory.

How fast do you mine at stock clocks?  Also, what speeds do you get mining Litecoin?

MSI Afterburner:   http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

You'll need to close the program and reopen it after changing the memory clock to the lowest in order to lower it further.

I run all of my 7000 series cards at 300MHz and get little to no change in hash rate.  If you want to further increase your Mh/s, try CGMiner and the following settings:

Code:
"intensity" : "7",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "diablo",

I use MSI afterburner, the mem clock is set at 150mhz, i think it has a multiplier of 9-10.0  X 150mhz that gives me 1300-1500mhz.  its at its lowest setting.

My 7870XT is unstable at any frequency different than 1500MHz memory. I have seen others report this too. I honestly wouldn't worry about the memory clock at this temperature.

How well does your card do with litecoins? The hardware comparison pages make it look better for Bitcoins.

That is my question as the 7950 has much higher memory bandwidth and Litecoin loves memory bandwidth.

In the future I may turn to litecoin mining, however at this moment i just mine bitcoins.

Sorry guys.

As far as MSI, PowerTune I have tried to downclock memory,  I will try out Trixx soon too.  But right now everything seems very stable.

At best, I can manage 390KH/s. I can hit 540MH/s with sha though.

yes, i remember I used to do this with some problematic 5830's..  (well, I'd switch between one and another if they werent synchronized & it'd then allow me to lower the memory lower)

but with my MSI 7850 and 7870, the lowest it'll go is 600 in afterburner.. i can quit and reload and it's still 600.  ulps is disabled, 'extend official overclocking limits' is checked, powerplay is disabled, config file is changed

[ATIADLHAL]
UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2

and i've tried trixx, barelyclocked, gputweak, ... everything but RBE basically

i know it's possible, since it comes with 2 performance levels, and the 1st performance level is 150 memory 300 core

it's all a bit puzzling

anyway, the 7850, i can run at 1100-600 and it still doesnt go above 55oC

the 7870 is problematic

getting 500mh/s is doable as long as you have good ventilation.

If you do a 2 card setup with the powercolor, its gonna need massive cooling to stay above 500mh/s.   They get very hot when right by each other.

I wanted to say I got Sapphire and Powercolor 7950s, I got powercolor 7870xt.

The Sapphire runs easily 10C  10-15% cooler than the powercolor.
Major difference when it comes to OC'ing and maximizing hashing.
