Hi.  I am a new user and didnt know about the high transaction fees.  So I followed the default low fees and now my bitcoin is still pending confirmation.  Blockchain says it will take 1-7 days but now even after 8 days it's still pending confirmation 0/3. I am so worried now and don't know what I can do to expedite or how to make them cancel it.

Does anyone know what is the maximum waiting time?  Who can help me?

Whoever mines the block which ends up containing your transaction will get its fee.

Most  wallets should have been updated to use dynamic fees, give us the transaction in particular so we can perform triage

This transaction. Please help me.

https://blockchain.info/tx/ed810bcb7334470f6341e152d5f0493ffc74dcfae3586c75236ae3b8582b2d05

My gawd, which client still uses static fee of 0.0001 for all transactions these days. Unfortunately given the size of your inputs, that amounts to a measly 20 sats/byte fee, which will probably never get mined.

You have a few options, use Replace by Fee to send a second transaction with the outputs of your this tx with a much higher fee based on Bitcoin fees https://bitcoinfees.21.co, which is essentially a child pays for Parent tx, the miner will mine both txes to get both fees.

That or you can use the viabtc accelerator.

The most drastic way is to simply wait for your tx to simply drop off the mempool

Try to use a desktop wallet next time with dynamic fees determination like electrum wallet.

Please guide me step by step as I am not able to understand how to do it.
Note that I am an inexperienced New user.

Appreciate your help.
Are you saying that my transaction will be hanging forever ? Isn't there a Max waiting time for my transaction to come back to my wallet?

After how long will the transaction drop by itself and back to my wallet?

I presume you are using blockchain.info? If that's the case you would need to find someone that is more familiar with that web wallet

After how long will the transaction drop by itself and back to my wallet?

For transactions to drop from the mempool, it all depends on time and if nodes keep relaying and broadcasting tx, no definite time is the answer.

Hello,

Your mistake on this was when you believed what blockchain.info says . If you want a correct guide regarding miner fees . Go here: https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ . Now, It says there the fastest and cheapest rate is 330/byte and you transaction's size is 520bytes so 520*330 = 171600 sats should be the correct miner fee . But you paid 19.231 sat/B which is 0.0001BTC/KB., no wonder its stuck fortunately it is still good for viabtc . You can use it in your transact. . Just try submitting it on XX:00:00 here: https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

EDIT: I accelerated your transaction using viabtc . It should receive confirmation on the next block they mine . You can check the records here: https://www.viabtc.com/pool/state/ . Wait for the next block

Thank you for the explanation and your help.  I really appreciate it.  Yes I was ignorant and didn't know about this fees thingy until my bitcoin got stuck.  Now I know and will never make such a mistake again.

However what do I do now? Just wait?

Do you have an estimate on how many more hours /days I need to wait.  ?

Will my transaction to thru or will it be rejected and returned to my wallet?

As I am very New and confused,  I am asking such qiestions
I am also very worried now.

Yes .

I can't say much but I queque it up on viabtc so its should be on the next block they'll mine . Here is what it says on their block records:

The current status is 52/100, just wait until they create a new block and hopefully your transaction will be there  Grin

No, It will go thru . Basically it is a mining pool so they'll mine your transaction .

EDIT: Viabtc included your transaction in block 468664 . It has 1 confirmation atm . Please Lock this thread as this have been solved . Thank you!

OP, the same thing happened to me. Fortunately, the backlog reduced somewhat yesterday and my transactions cleared. Looks like it's getting backed up again. Unfortunately for a lot of noobs, including you and I, blockchain is giving bad advice but taking no responsibility for it.

I've been using blockchain monthly for a couple of years with no issues until recently. Last month confirmation took overnight. This month, it took almost a couple of weeks. I never considered fees before now. Maybe there are other issues with blockchain, but there is no doubt if you look at https://bitcoinfees.21.co/, the problem is that blockchain is not just recommending insufficient fees, they are warning users against them. This tells me that blockchain has been sitting on their market share without bothering to look at what has been happening in the market. If they were being proactive, they would have had a working dynamic fee calculator. What they are calling a dynamic fee calculator is a complete joke. I have no way to prove it, but I suspect the massive backlog of unconfirmed transactions that has been present in the 91-120 sat/B category of the above link for the past couple of weeks has been caused largely by blockchain.

Hey guys, I have a similar problem. I had dynamic fees activated in my electrum wallet.

Transaction:

3bfa1b8ee6c7bd73716753f2f0b809e6e83087e7f77571328e7d9ac4c83b2ce3

https://blockchain.info/de/tx/3bfa1b8ee6c7bd73716753f2f0b809e6e83087e7f77571328e7d9ac4c83b2ce3

I am waiting for more than a week now.. How is this possible with dynamic fees? Waht can I do? I sent the money to a trading platform because I needed it... Please help me if possible.
