First of all, i would choose to diversify the investment into more coins, but if you would like to invest in one, it is ok too.

In one coin out of the two you said, choose Bitcoin. BUT i would choose neither and go for Etherium, i just think this is where the future is. Bitcoin network is quite laggy and it serves only purpose as a payment whereas Etherium has more features.

If you decided to diversify, also check out Stratis, Iconomi, Lisk and other promising coins.

It depends which profit you want to get. LTC is risky coin, but you can get a nice profit from it, if it would grow. BTC is more stabilize one you can just invest in it and wait, it will definitely grow Smiley

I would probably split them half-half.
Both are fairly stable and have promise in the future.
Aren't Litecoin planning to introduce anonymous transactions some time in the future?

I always prepare BTC because LTC is slowly rising so profit is low.

.....
Aren't Litecoin planning to introduce anonymous transactions some time in the future?

Yes sort of by obfuscating the amount of coins
Quote
Confidential Transactions for Better Privacy

While Lee has stated that Lighting Network is still the number one priority, he is also excited about the development of confidential transactions for litecoin. The basic idea behind confidential litecoin transactions is that it obfuscates the amount of coins in all inputs and outputs, while simultaneously cryptographically verifying outputs are equal to the inputs using a technique called the Pedersen commitment. While the sender and receiver address will still be publicly known on the blockchain, obscuring the amount of a transaction can help make litecoin a legit fungible digital currency. For privacy conscious VPN users, we believe this can be a tremendous benefit.

TorGuard has seen a 100% increase in LTC payments over the last few weeks. As bitcoin transaction fees increase and confirmation times get longer, litecoin is becoming a faster and cheaper payment option for small transactions. In fact, we now offer 10% off automatically on checkout if you pay your bill with litecoin.

https://torguard.net/blog/why-vpn-users-should-get-excited-about-litecoin/

Get used to it.

If I suggest you have to invest with BTC rather than LTC, because I believe you invest in BTC, you will get big profits in the future, because BTC is very convincing and many people invest in BTC. But if you invest in LTC, I do not guarantee the money you have will increase in LTC investment.

You missed out on the Segwit hype for LTC.

I think Litecoin will see some new developments that build on top of Segwit.

My hope is that the price will eventually decouple from BTC. I'm not holding my breath though.

I think Bitcoin and Litecoin just as good, because both this coins very promising,
if you told me to choose between these coins, i am prefer bitcoin  Grin
but up to you if you investasi with bitcoin or litecoin it's just as good,
Everyone is free to decide choice of each,  Smiley

You are right, everyone is free to choose but I think if you want to invest the money you have, you should choose Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is obviously in the future, and very promising to invest in Bitcoin.

You could diversify based on the market cap. Meaning you would split your $1000 into [a few] top currencies based on their share in the market. You'd have $550 or so in Bitcoin, $200 in Ethereum etc. (I am just guessing the numbers, you'd have to use the calculator to get the proper numbers based on the market cap).

If you are willing to take a little bit of risk then go for ltc as 1000$ can increase the price a bit on some exchanges, which can lead to more buy orders and chamce of getting a profit of 20% within a day. But for this you need little knowledge of trading also. If you don't have time for this or don't know trading invest all in bitcoins or invest 800$ in btc and rest in ltc
You can even try xmr it is also a really good altcoin

Im lookin for a long-term investment and have 1000$.
I cant decide if btc or ltc is better?
What would you choose?

Why dont you buy half of each?  You spend $500 on LTC and $500 on BTC.  And you also buy yourself an hardware wallet to have them stored safer.

Will it all depends on you, if you really did you research you can decide on yourself but in my opinion I would diverse it because we don't know the future. What I'm going to do is split it to 4 and invest it in 4 coins including btc and ltc so you won't get regret that you have chosen the wrong one because you invested on them. Of course you will lose some but I'm pretty sure that in the future you will really earn some.  Wink

I think bitcoin because it has a good value and you earn profit. Bitcoin is a good investment and better to invest in bitcoin because it will become high and most popular in investment. Bitcoin is most trusted currency and fastest it is safe to invest in bitcoin. Many of people and investors are invest in bitcoin likely in Ltc. Invest in bitcoin is have a future.

If your intrest is getting also some profit I woiuld choose LTC.
Think about how much BTC needs to rise for you to double your money? From ~2000 USD to ~4000 USD
And litecoin needs to bounce from 20 to 40 Wink
Imho BTC train is long gone to make profit.
Offcourse it's a bit less riskier than LTC. But your call.
I got my euros in LTC. Bright future ahead for that coin.

This is hard question, and i find myself confused every time i think about this. I not sure we actually need to choose, because they are about good and can be even more successful. Also diversity is needed we can use them no matter which is better or not.
Best would be to have bunch of different currencies which are easy to swap and they then can find their users with their specifications that can compete for different uses..
