So I still think BTC is the real thing and the way to go - but I want to put a smaller amount into ETC or ETH, kind of as an insurance.

What are the differences, and which one of the two would you recommend?

I only know that ETH was created through a hard fork after somebody scammed somebody, so that scam could be reversed. Which means in ETH, transactions can theoretically be reversed.

Any input welcome.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I would invest in ETC, because I don't think switching to PoS is a good idea. But even ETC may have bloating issues in the future. You also need to invest with the right timing, because both assets may be overpriced.

Eth is better than Etc,,
in my mind eth has a good future, with a smart developer and huge community supporters,,
also there is a lot of new project that use ethereum blockchain and accepted only ethereum as their main payment to make investments,,
this will make the ethereum price increase..
thats my suggestions

ETC just a forked coin and eth is the real potential rather than etc. Regarding from the fact that we can take a conclusion if ethereum will be a good choice for you to take it as your investment.

But why not put all of your amount on bitcoin?
I only know that ETH was created through a hard fork after somebody scammed somebody, so that scam could be reversed. Which means in ETH, transactions can theoretically be reversed.
Please note that you can try to search the true history of ETC and Ethereum.
The forked coin was ETC and it's not ethereum.

How did you come to that conclusion? ETC is technically the original chain.

Frontier is the original chain. In spring 2016 there was a hardfork from frontier to metropolis.

I trade etc because it's cheaper than eth and I can buy more etc coins while I take advantage of the changing prices. I'm not a technical type so I don't really know the difference between two. Cheesy

You don't have to be technical. One of them is backed by the original devs, corporations, institutions, 90% of the community. Other one is backed by barry sillbert and his troll gang.

Ok, but as far as I know, the Ethereum we have now on the market is a fork from Ethereum Classic.

Ha ha, if you mean me - yessssss, another fork, that means another coin, at least 2 more forum threads, and much more FUD. Seriously...  Cheesy

Which one of the two will fork again, and why the heck?

It might be overvalued, but that's always hard to say with a cryptocurrency. After all, it could be argued that the intrinsic value is zero. And ETH/ETC is perceived as new and hot, everybody has been chasing the next big thing for a while. Half the market cap of BTC though, that's reeeaaaally much, yes...

IMO the stock markets are ridiculously overvalued too, and yet they continue to climb (for different reasons...).

I don't want to spend too much time digging deep into ETH, as it will just be a fraction of my BTC investment anyways. Just betting on the altcoin most likely to make an impact, and that's it. I have a little bit in LTC right now, which I would shift to ETH.

So ETC is backed by Vitali and his devs, and ETH is backed by Silbert? And they don't cooperate in any way?

Also, as ETC is so much cheaper now, logically, does hat mean that it has a lot more potential for growth?

Trying to wrap my head around all of this.

ETC is just a scam coin. Hopefully it will get some other development, but technologicaly it is very old, because there is no dev team behind it. It can grow slightly ,because people are confused and when they see name - Ethereum Classic they can think that it is exactly coin what they saw on news. But in fact it is speculatory parasite coin with no further development behind it.

ETH Ξthereum is real. It has development ,strategy and road map. ETH is dapps (decentralited applications) ETH is Ethereum Alliance with more than 100+ world financial (JP Morgan,Deutsche Bank,SberBank) and industrial (intel,Microsoft,Toyota,Samsung) corporations behind it.

eth is the real project while etc went out from it, I'm not sure why those two separated and create its own identity but for some reason
i still believe that eth will be more valuable in coming days, since development still ongoing and the dev are working hard to present
more from their projects.
