*Does anyone have any insights/tips on how to raise investment capital?*

Hey there,

I am a young high school student trying to setup/contribute to my college fund through a long-term hold strategy. Unfortunately high school plus some ultra strict parents does not provide a lot of opportunities for making spare money on the side, or getting some spare pocket money to put into Ethereum. I managed to save up for 4 ether when it was around $33 but it's just going up so so fast and I hate to miss out on this one opportunity I have to save up some money and leave this tiny town and do something with my life.

Any advice you have for someone trying to build some investment capital, please feel free to share. I will be more grateful than you could ever imagine.

The first wayis to write down everything you spend money on and try to figure out if you can reduce your costs. For example, stop buying coffee from starbucks or dont buy soda at fast food places. Drink water. It is free. Many studies show if you drink enough water you will feel great and wide awake. Soda and coffee are not needed to feel awake. Saving 3 or 4 dollars here and there over a few months adds up.

Second thing is look for an ad campaign that accepts newbie accounts. Head over to the Marketplace on these forums and look through. Maybe there is something you can do. Maybe there is a campaign accepting newbies that pays you for posting on social media or here. Though you will be banned for spam comments and comments that are low effort or not many characters(be careful  and read rules about construtive posts).

Third is to sell some things you no longer need.

Fourth, get a job doing something. I started working at age of 12 (little kids sports ref)and other places let u work part time if a parent signs off it is ok.

get a job! anything that works with your scheduled would do. it can be tutoring or something simple as that. you get some extra money and can do with it whatever you want.

but if you are investing in altcoins as it seems to me you are, then remember that these things can go down as hard as they go up, even harder because the panic sell is usually pretty intense.
so don't go crazy on your investment.
and don't get caught up into the hype.

There is a FOMO brewing...

I am with this guy. Working to build your investment capital would be the wise way to go about it. It's not the most ideal to really boost your capital quick, but it is safe and it is a sure thing. While you are working you can always still invest that money you earn. Also, if you have Etherium then that means you can sell those and use the money for investments again.

I admire your for this brother! First, you already saved 4 ether why not study trading and use it as your starting capital to earn more ether? there are some exchange sites that has an ether market. Second, join some signature campaign for your additional funds. And lastly, if you have skills such as coding and programming or even translation, why not market it and use it to earn additional capital?

Keep your eyes peeled for giveaways in the altcoin section. Some need Bitcoin linked to them, but others give coins away for nothing. One of them might end up hitting the jackpot.

Doesn't look like he's bought it yet.

You spent $132 to get your 4 ether. I would sell 1 ether to recoup your capital (yes! that was your capital!) and keep that as proper savings. You will have 3 eth left, which you can continue to hold or diversify into Bitcoin (I really think you should!). Whatever happens after this, you have already made profits - always keep something to save, and never all in one place.

There are many things  you can do both online and offline to save for your future. And I am quite happy to see that you have chosen cryptocurrency to invest into. Learn some skills like web development, graphic designing, signature code designing etc and offer your service here in forum for bitcoin or any alts you want. You can also work few hours in your area to save some extra funds and invest them into alts of your choice or you can just hold it in bitcoin for few years. Good luck...

If you can have time to post this around here without looking over your shoulders for anyone who might be watching you whether your strict parents or someone who might report you to them, then you have enough time to build whatever you want to build. I would suggest that since your parents does not want you to make some side income then it means they can cater for your needs which means you really don't have to get yourself committed to any large funding because that amount you have might pull anything off and the time you required might actually affect some other areas of your life. Just continue holding till you get your freedom and the world is for you to take.

Some promising altcoins are distributing their coins to existing Bitcoin holders.

I would recommend participating in the Byteball airdrop by signing a message with your current Bitcoin funds.  You will get bytes depending on how much Bitcoin you sign with, and about 200,000 Bitcoin are signed so far.  The next round is June 9th.

Stellar Lumens is doing a similar thing at the end of June.

Careful when making proper investments into altcoins though.  Some of them go down violently as well.

Also make sure to hold Bitcoin as your primary coin.  Even Ethereum basically revolves around it.

I would personally suggest you to complete your studies first because this is the prime age for you to complete your education and if you miss out on this opportunity you will regret at a later stage and there will be a time you really cannot backtrack your life,so my suggestion would be to concentrate on your studies and spare some time for the crypto market rather than spending full time on it.

No need to bother with your fiat savings to buy a crypto. If you have some time then work online which pays crypto. It will take time before it will reached your target but surely you will make money here. Im a student too.

If you don't see any opportunities online, then go find a job. You can apply part time or full time depends on your time as you are a student. Im sure there are institutions that accepts students as job like McDonals or in other services. Just learned to find it out.

Maybe things you can do now do what you do to earn extra money, you may be able to earn extra money from freelance, because today we can make money via internet, for example: you have potential in the field of website program, you can enter the contest Website design. If you are very interested in the world of cryptocurrency, you can set aside a little fund that you can as your investment savings

You can check markets when you have free time and if you see increased volumes, you should short or buy back your coins, you can diversify between Bitcoin, ETH, and some other coins from top 10 like XMR or XRP, and try to get profit from their volatility. If you have some experience in trading, you will have much more profit if you short and rebuy instead of just hodling. You can start with smaller sum like 0.05 BTC and see if you can be in profit after trading for a month. Just don't be panic buyer/seller, make predictions and place orders and then wait.

I think the best investment is knowledge, without good knowledge you will not be able to make a decision to invest. For example you decide to trade in forex or altcoin, but if you do not have enough expertise you will just throw away your money. If you choose to invest in property, you must know the strategic location and other important things. The point is you have to learn to keep your knowledge growing
