"They" are indeed. it triggers every time lag goes below about 15 secs.

Its a surprisingly effective way to bump lag it seems. Clark moody shows them all being removed within a second. Re-adding them though consisistently bumps lag by around a second per ask until they have added 100. Then the engine chews through any real trades, lag goes back down and the process gets repeated.

Why oh why didn't I think of that?  That's a really good idea.  Fuck fees on actual trades... put the fee on the order making.  I guess I can understand why Gox didn't take this route to begin with -- liquidity was necessary and only possible through more adoption and exposure.  We have that now though.  So yeah, hey Gox, change your plan thusly -- it'll even probably eliminate your lag problem.

They clearly can identify the accounts. Question is why they choose to do nothing about it. May help them short term with panics (volume and fees), but long term they are dead if they do not stop this kind of pathetic attack.
Bitcoin needs an exchange with teeth ...
Sitting on rubber balls failing in front of the press is a terrible advert for Bitcoin.
Gox is ripe for the taking for anyone with the money and skills.
