I don't know of an exchange but I am curious why you are interested in ByteCoint - or for that matter why people are interested in LightCoin. What do these Bitcoin copy-cats have that Bitcoin doesn't?

They're "different". Also, easier to mine. I personally don't see the point, unless you're the guy who invents it, and secures the first million coins or so for yourself.

well its new in the market. So i'm interested in joining something thats just starting. A lot of people didn't have faith in the LTC and look where its at now. ByteCoins well its at its early stages so I want to start it off with them. Bitcoins way to late for me to join the game, im going to have to dish 6 figures just to make it turn. just my opinion.

It is. I'm skeptical but at the same time $100 worth of btc ain't going to hurt. more like a lesson learned. and if i do take this leap then could also mean a big plus.

Altcoins are only interesting to people who think the point of crypto currencies is the mining. To those of us who are interested in bitcoin as an actual currency, mining is more like an annoying and unimportant side effect of decentralization.

I guessing the value of bitcoin can only really go upwards as more people hear about it and as it gets harder to mine?

Altcoins are only interesting to people who think the point of crypto currencies is the mining. To those of us who are interested in bitcoin as an actual currency, mining is more like an annoying and unimportant side effect of decentralization. Exactly. The point of mining is to give a financial incentive to secure the network and therefore make it more costly to attack it. That's the whole point of mining. Besides of that it's basically only a waste of electricity. For those coins to be providable there is always someone needed who actually buys this coins. And that's the point I don't get. Who buys this coins? And why? - The only answer is IMO the hope of future gains, but this is a zero sum game and nothing grows forever.

All previous versions of currency will no longer be supported as of this update

Faster confirmation. This. There is definitely a market for alt coins, and not just to keep GPU miners happy.
