We are developing the Android application for PassLfix together with
https://www.streamr.com/ who provide the platform for the real time data visualization and develop the web application.
The goal of the prototype was to validate the ideas of the whitepaper.
This worked very well and we have now the base for a lot of use cases.
Some more insights about the prototype:
* the Android application is based on
https://github.com/p-acs/ethereum-android-sample* we track the GPS location of the courier and the current temperature of the parcel (via external Bluetooth device
https://punchthrough.com/bean) and post this to Streamr to show the current state of the parcel in real time
* the payment of the fee as well as the update of the delivery state (such as that the parcel was handed to the courier or that the parcel was delivered) works completely via Smart Contracts
There are a lot of products possible now which could arise from here.
One example would be to track the delivery of frozen products and automatically enforce the continuous cooling chain.
Before the delivery starts courier and sender agree on:
* one hour delivery
* temperature always less than 0 degree Celsius
This is put in a Smart Contract together with a fee which is then acting as an automated delivery insurance.
If the sensor emits a temperature higher than the threshold or if the courier does not deliver the parcel in time the insurance is automatically payed out.
