Hi. I decided to start mining as well, but I am complete beginner and I will need your help. I would like to mine ETH/ETC and maybe other cryptocurrencies. I didnt set up budget yet, it depends what would be really the best. I read about it and everybody recommend "Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ Rx 470 / 480 OC Series" which is out of stocks everywhere. In that case other option should be 570 series. Did I understand correctly that one of these GPU have aprox. hashrate 20-30 Mh/s (after modifying BIOS). So that means 6 GPU will have 6*20-30 = 120-180 Mh/s? I would really appreciate your advice on HW. Also would be nice to have some tutorials how to build all that and make it work. I know here is a lot of similar topics, but everything is changing day by day and I would like to have updated info. I am from Czech Republic so if somebody from my country read this and would like to help I would be more then happy. Thank you for all your help!  Smiley

Imagine you build a computer, it's just about the same but with the addition of 1 extra PSU (You might not need it, depends on card model and PSU maximum wattage) and powered risers (Which are simple PCIe slot extensions).

Minimum required specs
60 GB SSD
4 GB RAM
Cheapest CPU (Usually around 50-70$)

So I will need to have 2 PSU? Why? Which GPU would you recommend and how many I can use in one rig?

It depends. If you use, for example: 5x RX 480 cards you will draw around 1000W from the wall (stock settings) meaning you might need a 1200+ PSU. I always prefer 2x 750 PSU when talking about this card models. Makes me feel safer.

SSD isn't even required. Get a USB stick, flash it with whatever Linux distribution you want and boom, shave off a couple bucks and use it for a better PSU or risers. I can get G1820s or G1840s for around 30 bucks and some 1155 cpus for less than or around 10, although they use more power. For power, use a picoPSU and a sever PSU, and voila, cheap and reliable powering.

How many GPU should I put in one powerfull rig? 6 is maximum? How much hashrate I can get from 6 GPU? Is it around 120-180 Mh/s or I am wrong?

Hashrate depends on which algo you are mining.

For example if we will talk about ETH/ETC? I read 1 GPU series AMD 470/480/570/580 having hashrate aprox. 20-30 Mh/s, is that means that 6 together making 6*20-30Mh/s = 120-180 Mh/s? I am sorry for my beginners questions but somehow I have to start. I really appreciate any help from you guys  Roll Eyes

That's correct. The hashrate is per card. The miner software divides the hashing work load among all the cards connected to it and then sends the shares to the pool and you can see an estimate of the total hashrate which is also reported in the miner.
