Smart seller and great PR stunt for Bitcoin.

The owner of a one-bedroom home in the Trump SoHo "condo-hotel" listed the unit on Thursday with the provision that it be bought exclusively in the money-substitute known as Bitcoin.

dropped in to visit today.

beautiful building exterior and interior lobby.  didn't have an appt so i didn't get to see the unit itself.  but get this from the frontdesk guy:

it's a timeshare.  you only get it for x months/weeks of the year (he didn't know exactly how many months).  but you clearly can't go and live in it for even like a month at a time.  they also let overnight guests rent the condo as a normal hotel unit and a % of the nightly rates go to the shared owners.

needless to say, $1.9 M is an enormous amount for something like that.  i'd rather hold my bitcoins.

ps:  if the owner would like to correct me on anything i got wrong, please feel free to do so.

Yeah that doesn't sound right. $1.9M for a one bedroom timeshare?

You could buy one thousand nights in a nice hotel at 1900$ per night with that kind of money.

To me the fact that some guy owning such an apartment is trying to grab a large amount of bitcoins by doing it in the techkiddy way  is way more interesting than the condo itself.

True, but if you buy that property, you can live there 1000 nights then potentially sell it for more and make a profit.

But do you want to live there instead of in a nice hotel?
