I have a GTX1080 and I use it normally. Now I want to buy a RX460 for casual mining in the same PC (ethereum probably). Can I configure the miner software to mine only with the second AMD GPU? Thanks.

Honestly, if you mine some specific coins with GTX 1080 when you don't use it for gaming, I think it will be more profitable than using a RX460 at 24/7.

So, I recommend you buy GTX 1070 or RX 470/480 (570/580) and apply modded bios to get better earnings. Besides, with demand increasing for these gpus, mining with a single gpu will not give you much compared to people mining with at least 6 gpus.

Consider building a rig, but build your rig with safety concerns. Avoid children/pets at same room.

ETH mining-

Electricity Cost: 0,20€/kwH

Already ordered/got: Mobo + CPU + RAM + ethOS from GPUShack
+ EVGA Supernova 1200W (psu) + Kyerivs PCI-e risers + case

QuestionIn doubt between 6x GPU’s:

MSI RX 570 4GB Armor OC: 205€ [6x: 1230€]
MSI RX 570 4GB Gaming X: 222€ [6x: 1332€]
Sapphire Radeon RX 570 Nitro+ 8GB: 270€ [6x: 1620€]
MSI RX 580 4GB Gaming: 247€ [6x: 1482€]
MSI RX 580 8GB Armor OC: 271€ [6x: 1626€]

Expecting/Considering to continue on mining other altcoins after pos @ eth.

Any opinions regarding the best GPU in regard to possible MH/s vs Wattage consumption??

Thank you!

Where did you find those cards, I searched everywhere, there is no sign of RX570 or 580  Sad

Do I have to power the USB risers that are plugged in X16 slot?
Thanks.

The RX series cards all draw ~50W from the PCI-e slot. Add this to the fact that there is no real reason NOT to power the riser, I suggest that you do.

Is the 50 watt power draw confirmed on the pcie slot? older cards draw 22-25 watts only.

I have a six card rig with five mixed RX 4XX/5XX cards and one 1080. I use a dual PSU setup with the main PSU that powers the motherboard also powers all the risers and a SSD. The second PSU is only for the VGA power inputs. The draw on the main PSU powering the risers is 365 W, so each riser uses ~50 W.

That's high if all will be drawn from the mobo. Anyway thanks.

Hi guys,

Getting a RX580 soon. Going into this to learn the mining aspect, and some side money secondary.

Can I know is there:
1. A danger of rig oversupply with Proof of Stake, or even resulting to redundancy of rig.
2. Can we easily transfer to other altcoins or is RX580 primarily good for just ether.

Thanks!
