You are going to need system RAM, a good brand of 2133 MHz DDR4 4GB is enough, check the motherboard website for module compatibility. No point in going with a more expensive SSD, a basic 64GB is enough. SLI or Crossfire is not used for mining. Otherwise looks good.

Is that motherboard not overkill for mining? I'm still learning about the motherboards and multiple GPUs.

Zcash is good to mine I've read. I setup a 1070 last night and have mined ~$4.50 in 24 hours using Nice Hash.

sorry forgot to add ram to the specs, post edited

I already bought everything except for 2x gtx 1080 ti.
Thank you a lot for your comment.

I am actually interested in the knowledge of what is needed in mining rigs also lol...

I have been experimenting with my Gaming Rig with a pair of GTX1080ti's... so far 90% of the post on this site will have nothing to do with you it seems.. the gtx1080ti is either not supported enough or just not a good card to mine with for the time being.. because many of the people i talk to are hashing out nearly as much as me on RX580's with bios mods as im getting on my 3x more expensive cards.. most miners i get memory count errors.. something about the memory running at 11gb/s messes up the miners.. i actually get better performance so far with the memory detuned to 8gb/s from a write up i came across... i went from getting 1-5% errors to now 0, with more miners actually starting for me compared to before..

After all the negative i just stated, there is not a single vendor out there selling any RX400/500 cards right now.. so today i bought 4 more GTX1080ti's.. i know my current gaming rig can support 1 more, so ill add a 3rd to it.. the other 3 im thinking ill put on risers on my old gaming pc, which is a intel i5 with old ddr3 memory.. i just gotta pickup the risers and psu for it..

In regards to parts i have come across that are getting a lot of attention in the multi gpu rigs, i noticed many run this PSU combo and get amazing quality in power.. might want to look into it.. i have no experience in regards to go that this route.. gonna order one just to play with to see how difficult it is to use compared to a normal off the shelf psu... its a server grade PSU, ive read that its rated at 80 rating Platinum 1200watts for under $65 bucks...

I will be using that motherboard for gaming in future i guess  Grin
It can handle 7 gpus that's another reason why i picked that up.
$4 a day with 1070 is impressive good work

The GTX1080ti seems to favor the Lyra2REv2 the most for me over Zcash...
Im averaging 0.00658252BTC/Day with the Pair of GTX1080ti's on Lyra2REv2/Zcash currently split 81/19 split so far on NiceHash since Monday

The reason i picked invidia because AMD cards are out of stock and i am tired looking for them tbh.

When i did a little research and some calculations i liked the idea of getting 2x gtx 1080 ti instead of 4~6 rx 480

ROI will take sometime but i believe Nvidia cards live much longer.

As mentioned above i already bought the rig except for gtx cards which i plan to order asap.

I hope we can keep in touch so we can share future nformation/ideas since we have the same unique gpus lol.

Don't you think nicehash is taking %10~%20 of your daily profit ?

you can do that same earning with a single 1080ti ming skein much more profitable if you ask me, don't waste time mining lyra2v2 it's an old algo with dead coin, DGB is growing fas has better future, and if i can suggest nicehash is bad for earning it reduce your income versus normal pool earning

I am just getting started bud sorry... im just now learning how to build custom batch files to run different miners.. i currently have Skein going, ran it for 614minutes lastnight tell the miner crashed.. now im running it again.. not really sure why the miner crashed.. but trying to figure all of that out.. the rate i was getting with skein lastnight was right on par with the same profit i was seeing nicehash miner... so i hope to get this gpu dialed in.. i did noticed that some of the more profitable miners on zpool with 1080tis have their cards way turned down.. like 74% below base clocks/freq.. but they are getting nearly 5.0Mh/s per watt compared to my 3.4Mh/s per watt

what is your tdp or power setting?

try 70%

core 150
memory -150
fan manual 75%

run for an hour then try

tdp 68%
core 160
memory -160
fan manual 75%

card to card sweet spots vary

64-72% tdp
core +130 to +250
memory -100 to -500
fan 65-80% manual

I get about 880 at 175 watts..

you can do tdp as low as 50%  if you have heat issues it helps to do this it will lower hash a lot.

It seems they all seem to run roughly within 1-3% of each other when at base clocks.. just looking on zpool.ca if you go to benchmarks, then select GTX1080ti, literally all the ones listing clocks around base clock are getting like the exact hashrate.. its really the ones who mod the settings a lot that optimize and get the most out of them it seems... but you never know what they are running in regards to settings tho...

Am i reading that correctly... you - the memory... currently i have it set to 87%, core +193, Memory +507 and my Mh/s is at the highest ive averaged playing with it.. but i have not tried lowering memory at all.. just up... they are running at 38c currently in my loop

Your ti brand is MSI ? Which brand is the best if you have any background knowldge about them?
Because i haven't order mine yet if that makes any difference.

Look at these specs

Memory clock speed is 11,000 times powerful on EVGA
can't decide which one to go with.

i think that 11,000 is a type

No it is not.  The number for asus is wrong that 1708 is asus core.

Both gpu are 11000 or so for memory.

The GTX1080ti seems to favor the Lyra2REv2 the most for me over Zcash...
Im averaging 0.00658252BTC/Day with the Pair of GTX1080ti's on Lyra2REv2/Zcash currently split 81/19 split so far on NiceHash since Monday

you can do that same earning with a single 1080ti ming skein much more profitable if you ask me, don't waste time mining lyra2v2 it's an old algo with dead coin, DGB is growing fas has better future, and if i can suggest nicehash is bad for earning it reduce your income versus normal pool earning

For mining skein you don't need to OC the memory, just the core. lowering the memory will help it to run a bit cooler and use a few less watts too. Ethereum and similar coins benefit greatly from higher memory, but the skein algorithm is the opposite.
