Posting this because reasons. Plus people always love to hear more about these kind of ideas. I think it's important to remember that purchasing BTC at any amount is still a good investment, and that you don't have to buy an entire 1.00 BTC to make a proper investment in Bitcoin.

Never put into anything what you cannot afford to lose!

While making an investment in BitCoin is a 'good idea', investing your BitCoin and making more BitCoin is a better idea! At Mining United this is exactly what we do for you.

I do not think BitCoin will ever reach the 4 digits. If anyone thinks so, explain why.

maybe not in your country [: but for example in Poland, it was really close to a one BTC pay 1000 PLN (a lot of people earn enough for a month :/)

I do not think BitCoin will ever reach the 4 digits. If anyone thinks so, explain why.

Very simple. If BTC1 = $1000, then the total dollar valuation of all the BTC in existence cannot exceed or equal $21 billion. If bitcoin is going to take off - and it may very well do - then a $21bn market cap (valuation) is small beer really. I actually foresee five or even six digits (USD/BTC) as almost inevitable if a major catalyst occurs to drive universal demand for bitcoin worldwide (think of what we are witnessing in China, southern Europe, Russia etc. as just the beginning of the beginning).

Of course, the market does not appear to agree with that sentiment, even though you'll find it prevailing on forums like this. How can that be? And can a bitcoin holder simply earn decent money doing nothing? When something sounds too good to be true like this, one always has to consider the Ponzi scheme angle (if it seems too good to be true...). But the reality is fairly straightforward: into the present market price - about 100 USD/BTC as I write this - is factored not only future potential to fly to the moon and beyond, but the future potential to crash to zero, a possibility that still cannot be ignored since it is far from out of the question. I figure, though, let's say I have $1000 worth of bitcoin (not saying I have that, I may or may not). One of two things is likely: either I lose $1000... or (eventually) become financially worthy, if not necessarily rich. To me, it's a good bet, plus, I do actually use bitcoin for what it was intended, as a currency and payment system. Just like the legend Laszlo Henyecz spent BTC10k+ on pizzas, we all have a duty to help the bitcoin economy at least that little bit, as best we can (IMHO), as well as saving/hoarding.

Disclaimer: only invest resources into either bitcoin or fiat that you can afford to lose. Grin

I think BTC will be over $1000 within the next 3 years *OR* it will be near $0. I'm giving it better than 10% odds at not collapsing, hence why I'm interested in BTC mining / investing / etc.

I did quite similar estimations. However, you should not invest too much, as there is still a big chance you lose it all!

As for bitcoins valuation, the sky is the limit. 1000+ is possible if it gets adopted worldwide and is used to buy and sell.

Bitcoins will always have value in my opinion. The rest of the world just needs time to catch on to its usefulness.

why set the bar so low? I heard people on here talking in the neighborhood of $100000 a coin.

It appears bitcoin in the backbone to this economy just like the US dollar is the backbone for Bitcoin.  So far, all other alt coins seem to be traded for bitcoins and (with the exception of litecoin) bitcoin is the ultimate medium of exchange.  I predict Bitcoin is here to stay and litecoin will emerge as a medium of exchange but all the others have their work cut out for them to become more than a means by which to earn Botcoins and litecoins.
