This thread was originally a raffle + drive for Bitcoin users to vote on Dropbox site "Votebox" to accept Bitcoin.

Dropbox has recently closed Votebox.. This is after Bitcoin became the #1 voted request.

So... Here's something to consider -

Bittorrent Sync, an open-source replacement for Dropbox.

http://labs.bittorrent.com/experiments/sync.html

I personally will move my data to this service rather than continuing to pay Dropbox for ignoring my needs.

Also, I don't want US Govt to access my files.

Hey bitcointalk folks,

There's an active effort being coordinated through Reddit to make Dropbox aware of the popular demand to have them accept Bitcoin as the method of payment.

The good news is that thanks to Reddit we've gone from 3,500 votes to 12,500 votes in just a few short days.

The bad news is that we're still pretty short on the number of votes if we want to make it count!

For example, here's the top three voted feature requests on Dropbox:

  • 176,226 votes: Watch any folder
  • 152,625 votes: Sharing permissions
  • 118,778 votes: Better (more affordable) storage prices

Let's make it count! We're about 4,000 votes short of making it onto first page of "most popular" items. Please be so kind and follow the link below to log in and vote. Note that each user account has multiple votes, all of which can be spent on the same item!

After a day of voting:

Thanks so much! It's little things each of us can do that can add up to something big! It'd be really awesome if Dropbox folks started accepting Bitcoin! Many big names would likely follow.
