I have tried everything, 100 different launch configs and overclocking all the way from 925 to 1200 core clock and 1375 memory clock to 1800 but i can't get over 580kh/s.

cgminer and reaper, it doesn't make a difference. SDK 2.8 with drivers 13.3 beta 3, 13.4 and 13.5 beta 2 drivers. Nothing seems to make much of a difference.

Got this card today too. The funny part is that cgminer is showing me around 500 Khs the pool shows around 600...

I use drivers 13.1 and I am getting 650 kh/s no problem.  It seems like it is a driver problem, if you are overclocking so high you should be getting higher speeds.

You are experience variance.  Although your card is actually mining at 500khs, the pool perceives you as mining at 600 because for a certain duration of time you are solving shares a little more quickly.  It all evens out though, there will be some times when you are only mining at 400khs on the pool.

Thanks for your answer. Is it possible to post your cgminer configuration ? The settings you are starting cgminer with? Thanks

I would love 650kh/s. Any chance you can share the config and any overclock ?

I've also read about bios flashing to the gigabyte bios which i may attempt later today.

Thanks for the info about the card flashing.
Do you have the non GHZ Version of the HIS Card ?

HD 7970 x2 basic 925 GPU and 1375 memory by factory settings.

Mine is the none GHz Edition but it is already stable running at 1100 GPU and 1725 memory.

If you tell me you had this card flashed with the bios you found i will try it. I am little scared about the card you know Cheesy?!

Thx. If it works i could send you some LTC or FTC i dont have BTC at all.

Kind regards

Patrick

Common problem with the 7970s it can range from a different load of things here are the most easy to test and fix.

Motherboard can limit the transfer speed.
Triple check your overclocks if they are overclocked.
make sure that the card is getting the needed power amount.

If none of those fixes help and then simple fix the card is fucked.

The only difference i made was a new bios and it got 150kh/s more.

SubNoize
I've spent almost a week first trying to find a proper cg miner config, drivers, app_sdk etc, then flashing bios'es..

have just found the thread. Thanks for bumping the information. I tried that bios yesterday though.. it seemed crashing.. anyway I'm gonna take a deeper look at it now.. And if you're still in range could you share good clocks(/hashes) you found or ended up with?

--- after some research:
on linux it gives the same low hashrate but with much more heat (due to higher voltage)
on windows it gives like +120 kH/s but with a lot of HW errors, which make it useless

seems I have the most unlucky 7970 ever, and I fed up with attempts to find a way to make it faster
