Hi All,

I'm new to the board and returning to Bitcoin mining after many years of not mining. It seems to be a bit more worth it now.  :-)

One thing I have noticed is the CGMiner is slow compared to Ufasoft CPU Miner.

CGminer: 5 MHash/s
Ufasoft CPU Miner: 12.5 MHash/s

I have a 6 core AMD processor dedicating 5 cores to the miner.

I wanted to respond to a post concerning the error "Header bytes do not equal SPVB". I had to delete the files in C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\MultiBit and then import the key I exported earlier (thank goodness).  Grin

Think again about CPU mining, it is pretty worthless.

It is possible to consume more electricity than producing btc.

I'm using the GPU as well (AMD 7770) getting 197 MHash/s normally and close to 217 over clocked for a grand total of ~230 Mhash/s.

And I can use my PC for most things, Video playback and Games forget it though.

Cpu mining had some meaning 3 years ago when btc was still green, now (like eretron said ) it's worthless...all the mining is done with GPU or even better hardware like ASICS.
Let's say your cpu have a tdp of 105watt, with a recent graphics card that have a similar power consumption ( for example an ati hd7770 ) you will have about 170MHash/s
