Now that I'm out of Newbie status, I'll update and say it's not really that bad as long as you're not super eager to comment on something, such as in the marketplace. Browsing a little at a time over the course of four or five days made it not seem like the requirement was difficult at all.
So hang in there, Newbies. It's not that bad.

It's not that it's hard, it's just that I don't like to contribute low value posts (including this one) in a subforum in order to get to the higher value posts that I may want to contribute. But I fully understand the need, to prevent spammers.

I do see value in enforcing rules like those to avoid spam. If 4 hours and 5 posts sounds tough, try other some other forums with tougher rules!

There is such a thing as newbie status for a reason. It is necessary to get to know the forum first and contribute a bit to the forum in order to post so the people who made this forum can prevent spam.
