Whether they like it or not they will still come back to acknowledge the fact that bitcoin has come to stay and taking along other alts as well. However, we should not be carried away because most if this media outlet are run by powerful businessmen who might not favor bitcoin and want to use that means to pull it down but the fact is that the mention has been done which is something to be happy about and will aprreciate a link to that.

I recon powerful businessmen in general are already in the crypto scene.

My brother was talking to his boss a few weeks back about BTC
[his boss has investments everywhere, banks, Tesla etc]
and the boss basically slams him calling him an idiot and had a little laugh at him . . .
Just yesterday the boss mentioned to my brother that his "investment group" are
looking and talking about BTC and ETH [and he didnt eat humble pie  ]

So what I'm eluding to is there are investors and business people already in
and there are a lot more getting interested because of the seemingly
relentless "good news" crypto stories in mainstream media, and from
an investor/business person's viewpoint, there are profits to be gained . . . so far!

When something like this happens it suggests a slow mainstream acceptance as cryptocurrencies continue to soar.

In other words you were all waiting for government's medias to promote bitcoin to believe in it? though it doesn't matter if the whole world see bitcoin for what it is and decides to invest in any way possible, things are getting out of hands, there is no fix or any well planned fix for the issues of bitcoin.
There is a chaos which it was there the whole time but now is showing itself by escalating. when I think about it I see that more people get to know about bitcoin and join the community then our chances of getting cheaper coins diminishes exponentially

How come? As simple, because they are the financial freedom itself. If someone has stolen it from you (by means of fiat or otherwise), they are the ones who did it, so they don't need to care about this added bonus (it is a bonus only for us, generic folks). They already have it, and they won't give it back. What's more, they will be happy to confiscate the freedom that Bitcoin offers as well. Whether they will succeed or fail is another question but they will certainly try to steal this new financial freedom once again

Yeah, this feature should be a nice promotion for Bitcoin since the price of it is going up. I think that the people that posted this on the Wall Street Journal is pro Bitcoin so the price of Bitcoin may not have a negative impact from it.

It’s one thing linking Bitcoin to Ransonware and other bad things out there though Bitcoin been around for more than 7 years so I am not sure how they want to tackle that point.

its great to own coins . . . what do we do with them if BTC doesnt reach mass adoption?
trade among ourselves and create our own price fluctuations so we can buy low and sell high
like our own private game, or do we want to be able to buy bread in the corner store with it?

I know they are two extremes but unless more people get into this for whatever reason and
traders, shops, sellers, markets start widespread acceptance of BTC payments it will only ever
be seen as a tradable "commodity"

and there are a lot of milestones yet to be passed I know for BTC but I wouldnt be knocking the
interest from any parties looking to get into this

Yezzir. While I'm always happy to see btc getting positive press, I really hope we don't get another investment boom that results in a collapse, like every other time bitcoin makes the news. It's like a signal for the whales to take massive profit and initiate a bear market. I can't believe the charts I have been looking at lately are sustainable. Major exposure at a time like this, might not actually be 100% good news

There will be no rocket to $3500 tomorrow, you'll be lucky to see it break $2800 at best. There will be stagnation. Bitcoin is down 4.25% to the 24-hour average right now. The demand grew because Japan actually did something with their government related to Bitcoin, not because of the WSJ. If it meant more we would see a significant impact on the value.

first of all the people reading WSJ already know about bitcoin and most probably have invested in it a long time ago before you and i did.
secondly WSJ has been writing about bitcoin for a very long time, i don't follow it to see if they ever posted anything on the front page but you can find a lot of articles from them about bitcoin.

As usual  we know one this above world people or media only gets news on which they are being caught by their interest which is commonly highest prices,value etc. and this thing is just happening on bitcoin and you are right they are only focusing on its price but not on its benefits and usage.

well the price is what will drive the adoption, you see now when the price is very high, there is more talk about bitcoin

more talk equal to more people buying in and so on, the price is important to help bitcoin grow, it's not just a number that tell you how much one bitcoin is worth

it's an important aspect like the block reward the block limit etc.. it's a part of bitcoin
