Poloniex made a mistake closing down troll box?

Part of me feels like Polo might have just sorted their support problem by shutting down the troll box, but not in the way they might think. Surely users will start using exchanges with a troll box as lets face it, a LOT of people post in there and it tends to keep people on the website longer?

Genuinely hope they activate it again but time will tell.

If they are trying to silence the community, then it shows that they may be hiding something. If spamming was a problem in the troll box, then they can just simply moderate it.

I've been trading in poloniex for a couple of weeks now and from what I have seen, the trollbox have no important news or whatsoever from the people using it. It's full of spam and mods keeps silencing users who can't follow the trollbox rules. It's easier if theh wil implement a limited access to a similar trollbox but with requirements or limits.

It surprises me the fact that they were not managing to handle this, since they already had a considerable number of moderators.
If the closure is a permanent measure, many users will not be happy about it.

I've been on Polo since the very beginning. You gotta admit- the troll box was always hilarious. Best part. But maybe if their employees pay attention more it'll deter the bad apples

Oh just read this thread and noticed that TROLLBOX already gone at Poloniex.

Too much to handle isn't it? Trollbox isn't always troll. There are also nice people there sharing analytics although majority is FUD and baseless speculations especially when there's a coin on hype. Hopeful also that it will be back as it's one of the way to reached them with their pending tickets.

Well if they spot a decline in visitors and trading I'm pretty sure the trollbox will make a return. I can't seem to understand why did they close it down. Was it so important to them to save a bit of money from paying admins to monitor it? Or maybe it was too much for them when there's an issue with the site and people would openly discuss it there in real time.

Well maybe the reason of that is to censored the problem topics who's been shouted on their but I think its so bad since looks like poloniex has taken out the freedom of speech on that manner, But who knows maybe theirs a deep reason behind those things and lets wait for more updates on how they counteract those existing errors and inquiries to their site.

I don't know why does it even matter. I mean the troll box is always a troll box, and it's rarely (like 0.000000000001% rarity) that someone would post/say something useful. It is good to entertain day traders, but I guess you have something better to see/do than hypes, FUDs, or annoying shit.

Sigh. Really? They closed the troll box because they needed the moderators on it to help the support staff with the many problems/complaints happening on the website (due to higher number of users/traders).
It's the first notification you would see in your FACE when you open Poloniex for the first time after the troll box has been removed.

Troll box has a usefulness to deliver the news about the coin to another people and reflecting the sentiment of the market.

But it's not good at all.

well if OP is getting good help using trollbox maybe its possible or its useful for his trade but its only just bringing a hype or a negative feedback to a coin that has been talked all around and newcomers are falling to those pro which doing their tricks to shake the new traders, better to see polo without this service.

Moderating trollbox must be tiresome for them. Its like keeping a very busy forum full of non behaving monkeys trying to monetize each spread. So maintaining a chatbox is a constant battle, couldn't blame them. There are several exchanges that don't have chatboxes too yet they still operates fine.

trollbox scrolled so fast you couldn't even read it most of the time -- maybe they are working to upgrade it & make it more functional, something similar to how BTCe did by limiting access in some fashion during peak periods, or maybe they tried that already -- I didn't use it much just popped in every now and then & got the impression it was way overloaded, ie unmanageable

I think it is one of the most welcoming decisions they have taken in a long time it is filled with FUD and recently it has become a complaint box because they could not keep up with the complaints they are getting on a daily basis and may be that is the reason they closed down the troll box,other than that there is no other reason.
