Hello Guys

made a transaction 2 weeks ago before the blockchain was synced with an older version of the wallet (bitcoin qt). The fee was 0.0001xx. The blockchain is now downloaded but the transaction isnt confirmed. On Blockchain explorer there isnt any transfer displayed on the receiving adress. (why is that so?)

What can i do now? Is it possible to just delete the transaction with the command -zapwallettxes or do i need to be worry of loosing my coins with deleting the transaction?

thx for answering

How old was the bitcoin qt you used? What version was it? The network rules changed a few years ago and very old bitcoin qt versions sometimes create and broadcast transactions that the network will no longer accept.

Posting the transaction id would help you get some feedback and help from users here

You need to upgrade your wallet. Wallet's older than v0.11.1 can generate transactions with high S values, which haven't been allowed since October 2015 when v0.11.1 was released.

Bitcoin core nodes will now only accept transactions with low S values. They used to generate and accept transactions with high S values, but that's no longer allowed since the release of core wallet v0.11.1 in October 2015. If his wallet's older than v0.11.1 he needs to upgrade.

https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.11.1

Quote
Test for LowS signatures before relaying

Make the node require the canonical ‘low-s’ encoding for ECDSA signatures when relaying or mining. This removes a nuisance malleability vector.

Download the latest version of core and install it. It can detect use the blockchain files and wallet.dat from your existing version of core (qt). You should probably backup your wallet.dat file before doing anything (if you haven't already backed up).

installed it and everything works fine so far although the transaction isnt confirmed yet but i think i have to let it run for a while now to get some confirmation

if i dont get any confirmation, can i just use the abandon transaction function which i found in the new  core version or do i have to worry about sth like double spend or anything?

Check for your transaction on all these block explorers. If it's badly propagated it might only show on one of them. If it doesn't show on any of them you can delete the transaction from your wallet.

edit: this is the id   b86301eb3719cd140b794544e23bc548c9ce6c932070f21fc3aee126044f1710

I can only find that transaction ID on blockcypher, and I can't find its double spend on any explorer. That transaction must be very badly propagated through the network, so you could remove it from your wallet and try sending your coins again with a higher fee.

If you want that transaction confirmed you could ask the guys who started this thread for help. They offer a free service.
