Never heard about any of these coins except for Waves. I highly doubt something will overcomes Ehtereum at this stage. There are just too many coins in the market, and Ehtereum already delivered on its promised upto a huge extent. So by investing your money on the next big ETH you are just risking your money.

As of Now I think its Ripple, Nem, waves since they are gianing popularity right now. Sia coin is also a good to watch too. There are also trend that old coins are reviving now they have some campaigns already.

Boscoin - Supported by a Korean Team.

EOS - I don't know much about it.

Waves - The star of the future, just watch it!

Aternity - No idea.

By the way, why do you consider these as altcoins? Are not these all ICOs?

I don't know anything about EOS, but Aeternity seems to be a really good project with a known team, at the very least. This is their announcement thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1733140.0

By the way, why do you consider these as altcoins? Are not these all ICOs?

ICO is the abbreviation of Initial Coin Offering (selling an alternative coin for investors), so it is involved with Altcoins, not a separate, or a different thing. Altcoins can have ICOs to raise funds.

I got a few BOScoin. Tried to buy more, but my Eth transaction got stuck. Too bad, I could have made a nice profit. Holding on to what I can. Their concept sounds interesting, but I bet on it more because it is the only Korean coin. And Koreans can be very patriotic. So I foresee some continued demand.

I also think Waves will have a good growth in next one to two years time. Also, the development team is quite active and progressing quite fast compared to other coins. The current prices are still very reasonable to accumulate for the longer term profit. They also do some airdrop every month like a dividend you get for holding these waves. I think we all should have few of these waves before it takes off to higher prices.

most of these projects are copycats so they will be doomed to fail. and don't forget that the only thing that ethereum is offering is a platform for smart contracts and for that there are a lot of projects out there some of which are even better.
some people is even saying RSK (rootstock) is going to kill all the rest soon and become the first thing everyone uses for that matter.

if any altcoin wants to succeed they have to compete with bitcoin and compete with it as a currency not as something like the rest of altcoins that gets pumped and certainly not in things such as market cap and price.

You forgot one of the best ones: Stratis

They offer similarly smart contracts but in a programming language people actually know how to use plus they are developping other things to tack on to it to complement bitcoin instead of trying to compete directly with it.

I don't think any new altcoin can compete the ETH or Bitcoin also , because it is not a joke for any altcoin .
There are numbers of the altcoins and thousands are the algorithm securities for such coins .
But two coins of same technology can't growth same to each other .
So here it any altcoin will give competition will be wave , of dgb only because these two have performance more better then any other coins .
Here another factor of the growth is also , the time that the altcoin spent with its users , here eth himself is fully trusted because people are using it from long time and have big trust , so without trust even any coin can't beat any other coin , regardless of the technology of that coin .

that's the problem without any thing to develop and just copying the system there's no real support that will happen unlike btc that's already got mainstream use any alts who wanted to follow the step of eth and survive together with btc needs  to provide features which will accommodate
needs from the crypto industry.
