The only thing to do it is to manage so that the social collapse and ensuing population collapse stay strictly a iranian issue. Containment through violence. Population will stabilize at a level sustainable for renewable water ressource. All other approach will result in a bigger collapse whose implication will be wider and harder.

What we really need to do is remember are all the good people that live in those countries we don't agree with and Iran has some of the nicest people and some of the most beautiful places on earth.

You may or may not believe they deserve this but one thing's certain, it's going to drag the entire region into instability. Mind you this is not Syria or Libya collapsing, this is Iran, which have a nuclear enrichment program. That'll bring a whole new level of uncertainty should this crisis explode. The Turks would probably be laughing while saying "told ya they can't drink their oil".  Hmm, maybe they can do as Saudi do and just desalinate? I'm not sure about the rest of the Arabian peninsula but it seems they're still using the more wasteful distillation method in some parts. They can probably ask Israel for the technology. Even if they did, I wouldn't want to wish such misfortune to befall them. We already know they have a repressive regime. As we've seen in madrasas in other countries, these generations could have been raised to hate and fear the West, just like many Westerners have been conditioned to look badly at other countries, for example, Russia.

A calamity of this scale could end up reforming the country by forcing the regime to listen and make concessions with its people - or it could make the country worse. We could see another civil war like in Syria, or a terrorist group rampaging in the region, like ISIS. And if that would happen, we'd likely see more immigration to Europe.

All this unrest has been tiring - for everyone.

I can answer you already in advance and it will be, it seems to me, the truth. No regime and no power in the Arab countries, namely in Iran, will do anything for people. As there was poverty, so it will continue. This gives the authorities the opportunity to keep people in check and more radical groups to take a comma from the number of citizens in poverty for their needs in a terrorist organization. A poor Arab country is on hand. This suits many.

There is a shortage of water in Iran, but the situation is not as worse as it is in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan. Also, the population growth is quite moderate in Iran, and this relives some of the pressure.

Now Arab countries are living through the sale of oil. If need be, they can transport icebergs from Antarctica, but in the future when oil will not need it they may face many challenges and their background lack of water is not the worst of what they can expect. They're getting ready and so we see how Muslims are already winning a place in Europe.
