If I want to tip somebody for their help anywhere on internet and if that person is also into crypto stuff, what would be the best way to just tip a few bucks to him?

I know the obvious answer is to send some BTC, but looking at the price right now, I may need to send few hundred 'satoshi' and not full coins. And considering the high fees and transaction times right now with BTC, I am hopeful that there must be some better way/currency to do that.

Are there any existing tip bots? If yes, then which are the most popular ones and which currencies do they support?

if they are into "crypto stuff" then they already have wallets/addresses of those cryptos. ask for their public key and send them some tip. it can be Dogecoin or smaller coins such as RDD and their transaction fees are ridiculously low! (i think RDD has a 0.001 fee or something like that, i once sent it with zero fees and it was confirmed right away).

as for tip-bots all i know are the bots that are working on Reddit. some of them were imported on other platforms too IIRC, such as Twitch.tv, and also IRC channels
there was one for bitcoin called ChangeTip which stopped working a couple of months back.
there is DogeTipBot working with Dogecoin
i have also seen RDD, LTC, Nyan and there are possibly a lot more.
i believe this is the source code of all of them: https://github.com/vindimy/altcointip

another option is giving them the keys!
this is mostly used in giveaways, for example there have been multiple occasions where people wanted to introduce bitcoin to others. they created a nicely designed paper wallet with private keys and all the necessary information required to spend the funds on the back and charged them with some small funds and gave away the "papers".
if you chose this method it is best if you keep a backup of keys yourself and add a warning to the paper that the funds will be moved after XX days are passed, so that the funds won't go to waste if they never used it Cheesy

If you want to send a small tip you can use the ways described by BitcoinHodler above, which are great imo.

But there is another option and you won't need to switch to other cryptos for that. You can use PrimeDice for that, for example. Right now you can tip as low as 1k satoshis on PD. It's easy to create an account there and also I know that it's safe to keep you money there. At least I never heard that someone lost their money from balance there unless they were hacked.

Dogecoin, obviously.

I prefer to send the wallet credentials along with the tip, this way I don't need to ask them to create a dogecoin wallet, to wait for him to do it, waste time again and send the tip. I just hand them the doges. Smiley

A paper wallet (or pdf version of one) works great for this purpose.

As for the currency it can really be almost anything but coins that are likely to gain a lot of value will ultimately be more appreciated by the user especially if they aren't cashing it out fast and after all who would want to cash out fast for a few dollars anyway.

Thanks BitcoinHodler for elaborate reply. I am looking for something quick, so paper wallet is not a suitable choice maybe. It may serve as an introduction for someone who is not already into crypto, but assuming the other person is already "in", a quicker funds transfer is what I'm looking for.

Maybe it would be a good idea to ask which currency they'd prefer and ask for the wallet address. The only thing is this would prevent me from doing this more often, since it would require opening a communication with several people every now and then,  and I would hate that.

Tip bots are good for this purpose. The only limitation is that they're not "universal" - for example a reddit bot won't help me outside reddit.

Now comes an idea, I don't know if something like this already exists:
- A universal bot service (not site-dependent) where everyone will have a unique username. For example I am user404 and someone is user606
- Everyone has their "favourite" currency specified to bot  (maybe not visible to others). Let's say user606 accepts LTC
- I can ask him what's his bot username, he says "user606"
- I send him some DOGE using the bot
- The bot will automatically trade my DOGE for LTC (something like shapeshift.io)
- Bot will send LTC to user606

In this:
- I don't know anything about that person apart from his bot username
- I don't know which currency he accepts or his wallet address
- I can choose which currency to send & he can choose which currency to receive

Nice idea to make a site that's do a AI tip/ escrow website but i think it's not profitable when it only have bitcoin so its owner must be also a cryptocurrency user so that he/she know about what altcoins is and it will be good project for bitcoin future.

My answer:
To tip use dogecoin because it is the secondary high value coin that can use almost like bitcoin Cheesy

Since that person is actually into crypto stuff and you want low fees, then try altcoins like DOGE or REDD. Their fees are extremely low.

Actually dogecoin is omre common if we talk about tipping (low price+ low fees + fun Cheesy )

DOGE is probably best, but as I said in one of my posts above, I was looking for something that gives freedom to sender & receiver on the currency they want to use. The exchange happens on-the-fly (like shapeshift.io)

I don't think something like that exists.

If that site is legit that's really great. I wasn't aware of its existence and now the more I look at the site the more I think they are definitely not a scam. 44,000 followers on FB means something.

But why can't you use this site for implementation of your idea? Do you think the fee they charge is too high? For example to exchange ETH for BTC you have to pay a "Miner Fee" which is 0.003 BTC.

The site is definitely legit. To build a tip service on top of it will take some software development knowledge and I'm not a developer myself. I just want to use such service if it's available. But looks like there's nothing out there.

This might be a good opportunity for someone to create such a service if they see some value in it.

Just to make it more clear, I'm not talking about a "one time" event. I am talking about a scenario where anyone can send a tip to someone else to appreciate their help or kind gesture, every now and then. Probably 2-3 times a day. Maybe small amounts like 1-2 USD. It's literally like giving a tip to someone to appreciate their service in day-to-day like (mostly on internet), but in crypto - not in fiat.

Dogecoin is pretty cheap to send to another person if you want to have a low transaction fee while sending it. The price of Doge is not that expensive on each Bitcoin exchange so you won’t lose that much money when sending it to another exchange if you wanted to some arbitrage trading as well.
