You only need to bacup once. Or if you create new receiving address inside the same wallet.

If its a wallet for a POS coin and I stake then I back up weekly. If its my BTC or LTC wallet and I use the same address for all transactions then I backup once and keep that backup in 2 different places sometimes 3.

Poster above is correct if you make a new receive address and send something to it you need to backup or you can loose those funds.

It is advisable to make backup after each change.
At least for quick synchronization.

I think you should backup when you change your address. And be careful to backup in a safety way.
