hi

im very new with mining (Ethereum)

using claymore 9.5, room temp about 23°C

i have a HIS RX580 8GB here are my results dual mining eth and Decred:

CoreV all time -100mV, FAN Speed 70% all time, mem at 2100 all time stock!?!(see below at questions)

CoreSpeedETH Mh/sTemp °CDCR Mh/sPower W
11502980880130W
11002877840126W
10502770820100W
1000256777091W

now the questions:
i´m reading about mem timing tuning BIOS copy 1:1750 to 1:2000 timing but its already the same maybe i got a used card? (ordered it online about 2 month ago)

what temp is good for all time usage thinking about 1000 or 1050 core or is 70°C too much?

my old R9 280X (1120 core 1550 mem)is mining in an other PC, it only gets 13Mh/s ETH and 411Mh/s DCR any idea to increase EHT speed?
it has 67°C with 77% Fan Speed in a server room with air conditioner ~21°C room temp

There are better memory timings than just copying a tighter value down.

This depends on the type of memory that's in your card (samsung, hynix, etc.) Lots of people have posted better timings for each of those types of cards that may increase your hash rate.

70 is fine for temperature. I try and keep all my cards below 80. I shoot for 65.

thanks for your answer

i have the RX580 now taken to work where the server room is and plannig to use it 24/7 there
runs with 1100 core 2100 mem and 28Mh/s ETH and 860 Mh/s DCR, 100W GPU only Power Draw at ~67°C is that temp good for 24/7 mining?

any good link on mem tuning (i have samsung ram) or its not worth trying to raise the 28Mh/s
any ideas are welcome

have a nice weekend

You guys should have better results with rx580. I have rx480 and getting 30 mh on ethereum.
Copied 1:1750 to 1:2000 timing made a lot of difference.

1150 core - 2200 mem- 1v core -  and power draw is 82W (it goes even to 70w if you lower core voltage, but i find it really unstable then)

hope it helps.

Hello Tommy

1 - Open PolarisBiosEditor 1.41 and use these UberMix v3.1 timings on straps 1625 and above (1: and 2: if you like) : 777000000000000022CC1C00AD615C41C0590E152ECC8608006007000B031420FA8900A00300000 010122F3FBA354019

2 - Now push the memory the max you can while dual-mining without memory errors in HWINFO. After you reach a stable memory clock, mine only ETH and start to downclock you GPU until the your Mh/s start to drop.

3 - Now that you have your max gpu/mem clocks set, you need to really undervolt your card.  Before modding the voltage in the bios, you can use claymore batch file to send a voltage command to your card to see how low you can go.

This test is done using dual-mining with your optimal -dcri value  (start with 15 and increase it until you ETH Mh/s start to drop).

Now edit your claymore  batch file and use the command -cvddc 1000 in claymore. If its stable, drop to -cvddc 950, and them 920, 900.    900 Is the lower voltage claymore can set.  If your card is still stable with 900mv, congratulations, we need to mod the bios go go lower!

Open PolarisBiosEditor

You can see in my bios, that I altered my GPU mhz and mV to my optimal values (power/performance).  In my case, I get optimal performance at 1090mhz with 831mv !

You can alter the last gpu mhz speed to the speed you tested in step 2, and you have to use this table to set the voltages (random voltages wont work).

If you want somewhere around 0.880mv, you need to use the voltage 0.88125 and remove the "0." and the last 2 digits "25". So you now you put in polarisbioseditor 881.

Cheers

thanks for the link

strange that my image is shown correctly in your qoute  Huh

edit: with PBE 1.5 RAM Timing looks good but my GPU mV is wrong i guess:

edit²: just risked it and changed the BIOS mV to 900 all except the first... i think it works GPUz shows now 0.9250V all time but MSI AB core voltage has no effect on the vcore now
looks like 2040 is max for my mem to get no errors

edit³: had to flash back the original BIOS because i could not get over 27Mh/s even with 1250 core not any more Mh/s with original BIOS i get about 28 with 1100 MHz core this card is very strange

something is not right, now with original BIOS gets only 25Mh/s looks like i get other values at each reboot

edit²³: back to mod bios ^^ doing 29 Mh/s with 1100 core and 2035 mem now its end of working day since 2 min Wink
i will try keep it running now with this config for the weekend... crashed today about 3 times but was before mod BIOS only know first crash was BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0x000000d1 relly hoping it will stay alive this weekend

best regards

In my picture I edited every gpu step to 831mv.  The default setting is what you have in your picture.

29 is very nice! congrats on the success! I think you could lower the vcore even more. Some people have their 580 running bellow 800mv

I read its only for samsung.

For hynix use this one:
777000000000000022339D00CE515A3D9055111230CB440900400600740114206A8900A00200312 0100F292F94273116

For elpida this one is nice too:
777000000000000022AA1C00AC615B3CA0550F142CCB1406006004007C041420CA8980A9020004C 01712262B612B3715

If anyone has a better elpida one, please give it to me Smiley

im home now and watching with teamviewer, its stll running very nice with 100W and 29Mh/s ETH and 877Mh/s DCR very good only 66°C (thanks to the air conditioner i think) GPUZ show 0.925V

will try next week too lower the vCore even more but 66°C is very good already i think

we have ordered 2 more RX580 4GB for 390€ but no one knows when they are available again, the dealer had it listed with about 20 days but i not really believe it
i´m right that it does not effect the speed if 4GB or 8GB RAM?

thanks again all for your nice help

here are my 2 RX 580 running with my final BIOS mod (lowered mv core to 900)

the hotter one is a HIS RX580 IceQ X2 OC 8GB
the other is a sapphire RX580 pulse 8gb (bios from http://1stminingrig.com/best-bios-rom-for-sapphire-pulse-rx-580-8gb-oc-hynix-memory-30-mhs/ )
stock was only 22mhs with that bios its 28-29

my primary target was low temp, problem here is that both cards are very close together in the mainboard thats why the one above is ~10°C hotter
good point is the ~80W power use with about 28mhs each card. tryed overclocking but was not worth it, get about 29mhs but was not very stable and much hotter like 70+°C and power increase to ~120W, any ideas to increase it are welcome for sure Wink

tomorrow ill build a simple rig of wood and waiting for 2 more RADEON RX 580 ARMOR 4G OC (390€ for both but i guess they will never arrive(here in Germany its sold out everywhere except 1 shop i know where they take 300€ for a rx 580 sapphire pulse 8gb... bought 2 of them last weekend))

Hello there!

I got a problem with GPU-Z, it can't read nor back-up the rom from my XFX RX 580.

Any clues on the subject?
