Norwegian Investor Sells off all Stocks to buy Bitcoin

The recent Bitcoin price increase is attracting a lot of new capital. That is not entirely surprising, as Bitcoin remains one of the most profitable investments people can make right now. Kristoffer Hansen, a well-known Norwegian investor, has seen the light as well. He converted all of his stocks shares and used the money to buy bitcoin. It is an interesting turn of events, albeit one that will become more common moving forward.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

More likely he wants to join the bandwagon as well. I'm sure he knows that risk in investing in bitcoin. And thought he takes chances because of the price volatility of bitcoin and thinking he can profit more than trading stocks. We can't blame them, the price of bitcoin is really going strong and may hit another ATH anytime soon. I think he's not the only one though, maybe there are a lot of stock trader shifting to bitcoin as well. Maybe we just don't heard them in the news. That is why we are really seeing new cash flow going into the bitcoin ecosystem pushing the price to really go up recently.

It's maybe harsh or crude to say, but if you look at how much growth Bitcoin has experienced throughout the years, you as stock holder will feel depressed considering you have wasted precious years waiting for a tiny return.... I am sure at some point people switching from stocks to Bitcoin will cause a major chain reaction of people doing the same, and rightfully so. In the same way I believe that gold will experience a similar outflow.

I like his confidence. Personally, I would never take such a step, as I am a firm believer of diversifying our investments. But I will never discourage this particular investor. In my opinion, while doing investing, you should listen to your heart and brain first, rather than blindly trusting the opinions and analyses thrusted by the others.

I ditched stocks back in 2013 as there is no need to have my money sitting into something far less rewarding. It turned out to be the best move of my life, in financial meaning. If Bitcoin didn't exist, my wealth would probably sit on 10 to MAX 15% of what it is right now. I must admit that it's easy talking as I was relatively early in Bitcoin, but it's still not too late. Demand is there, the hunger for freedom and decentralization is there - I only see growth. Not to mention that the general 'trust' in banks is reaching all time low after all time low. Bitcoin allows any entity to store a good portion of its wealth outside the reach of greedy banks and governments, this is one of Bitcoin's main aspects that I greatly value.

Interesting choice of words "Well-known investor"
I would say previously unknown and also IT professional rather than "investor" for two reasons:
1) Nobody knew of this guy until he himself reported his action to the media
2) The report from Norway that is being quoted says "IT advisor Kristoffer Hansen from Trondheim"

 Lol.
"While the exact amounts at stake are not known, the event is a further example of Bitcoin’s increasing prominence among traditional fiat investors."

This story is dubious at best and not really newsworthy but it seems every Bitcoin publication is running with it.

I suppose it wouldn't have made them so much ad revenue to make an article with the headline "Guy in Norway Sells $14 of Apple Stock for Bitcoin".

We all know perfectly well that putting all of your money into one thing is extremely risky and arguably dumb.  Diversifying, at least just into a few precious metals as well as cryptocurrencies, would be wise.

It's misleading for news publications like this to present stories in such a hyperbolic way, but this is the 21st century so what should we expect?

Well, if they think that bitcoin and a good investment they buy lots and lots of bitcoins.

It's good to hear news that does not involve bitcoin to crime.
