I've been trying to access my electrum wallet for two days now, but to no avail. It shows the status "synchronizing" forever. I tried it on two different computers, deleted the wallet file and reinstalled the newest version, connected to different servers and tried a different wifi. Now I'm out of ideas. Can anyone help? Thx!

Some more details: I'm using the mac version. I sent BTC to this wallet yesterday. Strangely, this tx shows up as "+0." in the transaction tab and cannot be right-clicked. In Blockexplorer tx shows up correctly. Just did another test tx which went through smoothly. But I can not see my total balance. Status: Synchronising...

Switch to another electrum server via tools menu > network. Another thing you can try is upgrading to the latest version of electrum if you are using an older version.

Thanks! But I did both of that already. Didn't change anything - on none of the two macs I tried.

You could try restoring your wallet from seed. You can grab the seed from wallet menu > seed in case you don't already have it written down. Then go to file > new/restore to begin the process. Use file menu > open to open specific wallet files.

Also can you tell me how many addresses are in your wallet file? Is it in the dozens or hundreds?

Restored wallet from seed -> same thing, unfortunately. I have 21 addresses and 5 change addresses, but I did > 30 tx via the same address. Maybe this causes the problem? Thanks for looking into this!

When you go to Tools -> Network, how many nodes does it show you getting block headers from?

Perhaps there is a firewall or something else preventing proper connections. Have you been synced properly in the past or is this the first time you are trying to sync? It can sometimes take awhile for the first synchronization.

check your "blockchain_headers" file and see if the file size is growing or not.
the file is located 1 directory above where your wallet file is located.
On Mac:
Open Finder
Go to folder (shift+cmd+G) and type ~/.electrum
http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#where-is-my-wallet-file-located

the file size should be 35.79 MB at first (downloaded from Electrum.org server) and then grow to 35.9 MB (37,675,008 bytes to be exact by the time of writing this). if it is not then it means you are not downloading the file needed for that "Synchronising..." status to go away. so check your internet connection and firewall.

you can also check your network window and see if it shows this number or not.

I get blockheaders from 8 nodes. And yes, I have been synced properly in the past. I never installed any firewall.

File size is 37.679.360 Byte. Yes, network window shows this number. (I am still puzzled by the 0 transaction that shows up my in my history. Here the whole thing started.)

This is indeed a puzzle... normally, I'd advise to just uninstall, delete all traces of Electrum, reinstall and restore your wallet using the seed... but it would appear that you have already tried that (or something to that effect by installing on different computers).

So, I doubt that removing the blockchain_headers file is going to help either...

Are you able to provide the TXID for the +0 transaction that shows up in the history? I'm wondering if maybe there is some non-standard 'quirk' in this transaction that may be causing issues with Electrum? ie. a genuine bug.

Same problem here.

Made a transaction, it is confirmed and in Electrum it shows +0. (and can't right click it) + endless synchronization.

Here is the transaction: https://blockchain.info/address/1HU4xLFv1B9xH6o1jgC3Su767eCkn14sb9

Tried to change different servers and restore from seed - doesn't help.

I can see this address under Addresses tab and can get it's private key.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Ok, so I exported my private key from Electrum and imported into Multibit Classic. After syncing, all went fine and I have my BTC.

Electrum is still stuck on synchronizing. I guess this is some kind of a bug...

Hi Neat,

The only thing worked for me was to sweep my BTC from the un-synchronized wallet to a new one as described in the link below.

I had this problem after sending BTC from Lykke app, is this the same on your side?

Seems the problem was from the server I'm connected to.

I have unchecked the "select server automatically" check box and It's working fine now.

Hello there,

sorry for picking up this 1 month old thread,
but I got the same problem and the solutions above do not fit for me.

The problem: One Electrum Wallet is stuck synchronizing since days.
I should recieve multiple payments on the wallet, but just one arrived and the rest is fixed with an +0 and it's not possible to see the details.

All transactions are confirmed in the blockchain.

As the other ppl mentioned, I tried the following:

1. Unchecking the automatic server search and search manually.
-> Did not work, everytime I choose a server by myself, I loose the connection and recieve a red dot.

2. Restore the wallet with the seed.
 -> Did not work either.

3. Sweep the private keys to a new wallet in the same electrum client.
-> The client worked for 10 seconds and did not react. Afterwards, nothing happend - the same procedure.

I really hope you guys know some more solutions I could try.

Can I import my private electrum keys to other bitcoin clients like bitcoincore ? Could that be a solution ?

Thanks in regard,

z5
