Whenever i attempt to extract the cgminer-3.1.0-windows folder from the .zip, McAfee winds up deleting half of the files and quarantining the cgminer.exe.

Its detected as Artemis!52B6B1DF3E96, which is pretty much how McAfee deals with any .exe that it doesnt recognize.. The McAfee instructions to submit it for investigation turned out to be fruitless and i dont know how to get around this.. Whenever i try to restore the .exe it just gets quarantined again, and even if it worked, half of the resources are deleted..

Has anyone else dealt with this and know anything that can help? Please and thank you.

I downloaded the cgminer from the link found on this thread.

Okay, Just hang on a second I'll type some instructions, By the way, Almost all antivirus programs are gonna say that Bitcoin Mining programs are viruses
UGGH, I have never used, Nor do i ever want to use McAfee
But here is the basics of what you need to do.

Most AntiVirus programs have a form of active scanner for everything that you do, When you do it.
What you are going to need to do, Is find What that active scanner component of McAfee is called, And give it the exception/exclusion of the CGMiner archive, and the location of where your going to decompress it to,

For me using BitDefender its easy, I set it to Ignore the folder C:\Cgminer for whenever it scans with anything. Done, no virus alert warnings, No files removed.

For McAfee, i expect it you to need to temporarly disable McAfee, Then extract CGminer to a folder, Add that folder to the exclusions list, Then re enable McAFee.
That should work, But again, I've never used, Nor will i ever use McAfee

If you have teamviewer installed i would be able to connect to your machine and "poke around" inside of McAfee's settings untill getting CGMiner to work while your AV is running

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=857670.0 GAWminers and associated things are not to be trusted, Especially the "mineral" exchange

I can turn off the active scanner in mcafee to extract the files, but there is no way to add an exception to the real time scanner or whenever i scan my pc.
 :' (

Kinda weird. When i turned off the active scanner and extracted to the desktop and turned the active scanner back on it would quarantine it when i would go into the folder. Then i turned the scanner off, extracted to c:, then went into the folder there was no problem.

I guess im good. For now..
 :- \

Now to figure out how to run this thing for LTC.
