Hello! I'm planning to start mining ether. Electricity costs aren't that heavy for me so mining is still a good option to make some eth.Since I merely have a clue about the required equipment and other hardware details,I'd be glad if someone helps me set up my budged mining rig.
The info I need :
- > Base investment
- > Should I do mining at all to make some ether ?
- > GPU or powerful CPU based mining ?
- > Hardware requirements and basically any other info from your current mining experiences.

Thanks!

RX series they say are better with ETH mining.

Are you aware that ETH is going to turn POS in the coming months? I've read it somewhere in the forum from someone old enough to know here.
But since you still can use the mining hard ware for Decred and ZEC, I guess you still can set it up.

Yes I researched.I wanted to know the stable config to generate maybe 2 eth every week ?

Can you link me to that thread ? This is some news! Even ETH classic ?

Probably.I'd rather mine other coins but ZEC doesn't look like a bad option.

For anybody else commenting : I've studied enough to know about the available mining rigs and related things.I just want to know from the current eth miners how much would it cost to invest in a mining rig setup which would generate 2 eth per week!

The latest word from the Ethereum Foundation dev chat is they will be implementing a POW/POS hybrid model as early as the end of July on testnet. Rollout to the mainnet would be 2-3 months after that at the earliest.

2 ETHs/week? I have 5 rigs, that's 30 cards, that generate 0.46ETH a day. So that would take a little over 4 days to generate your 2 ETHs. Cost:

-30 graphic cards
-5 motherboards, cpus, psus and ram

Your looking at something like...very approximately, I'd say in the 7-8K, if not a bit more. And this is not mentioning the worldwide shortage of GPUs, PSUs (anything above 1000W is hard to find) and motherboards. Also the difficulty bomb is making things worse...a month ago, my 800Mh/s would net me around 1ETH a day Smiley

There are other coins than ETH that are well worth mining, ETC for instance, ZEC (a bit too volatile for my taste but it got up to 350$ over the week-end) and other ETH derivatives like musiccoin.

ETC will not switch to POS, at least for now.

WOw,that was detailed and something specific I was looking for! Thank you for the information man! With that given info I'm rethinking y choices now.You really got me asking myself if I still want to continue mining ETH when by the time I reach my ROI over the total investment the coin will be turned to POS.You have a PM. Very interesting topic !

For the moment, I think it's better to invest fiat to crypto if you want to take the train quickly.
IMHO, I would wait for new specific NVIDIA/AMD harware coming soon because the difficulty will become insane !

New generation motherboards and graphic cards are on the way.
The question is to know if buying hardware now will be profitable after 3 month ?

The new hardware would be equally expensive ? Yes trading works but I wanted to get my hands dirty into mining.

That depends on the coin I'm mining isn't it ? Like the gentlemen above said Eth is going Pos in the upcoming months so I'd think twice before investing in that mining setup.
