From 2980+ it dived to 2480+ but it is recovering now. It is just maybe the whales taking profit from the new ATH. The trend is still going up. The 2480 must be the lowest point and it will continue its interrupted journey to 3K+.

Bitcoin isn't going below $2000 again, these historically small falls (as a % of value) happen frequently and are to be expected. It seemed to coincide with a big pump on ETH.

Anyway I think this belongs on the speculation area.

It has been going parabolic, thats for sure, and means that it is destined for a pull back. This is a healthy thing and should be embraced. Long term BTC is here to stay.

It's still fine as price is slowly climbing back up. I did a search and found out the reason for this drop is a panic selling because few bitcoin exchanges have issued a notice that they are closing down. I don't remember whcih exchange but this purely a panic sell and plus price is still looking strong enough

If you look at the price now,the price is recovering from the slump we have yesterday,the price went down to $2600 range and now it is above $2700 ,the price is actually rallying on a range and i think the rally will continue like this for some time until we break $3000 and for that to happen we need a good rally.

Theoretically, no one can predict how low or even high bitcoin's price will go. The current decrease of the price of bitcoin from the ATH is a normal occurrence. Bitcoin's price just swings here and there. No one is surprise in this movements since it became normal to most of us here, especially the old members, and this is due to Bitcoin's volatility. Nothing to worry about

Agree with you. This is all the reason those dives and big waves up are happening.
Something is out there making profits with this trend and as log as they have a bigger amount of bitcoon then they can make the movement.
Maybe if we keep on chipping away the bitcoin that they are all holding then it might make a big difference with the output of the price.

You need to look at these declines in one of two ways, you either (1) are worried about it so you set a level at which you'll sell or (2) you're willing to weather the storm and enjoy the ride knowing that a lower price means an opportunity to buy more on sale.

A more important price activity to watch when there's a significant correction (as we're seeing now) is how quickly the price rebounds. This rebound indicates the support that exists in the market. It's the measure of how the market sees the drop - is it reason (1) sell! sell! sell! or is it (2) don't be sore, buy some more.

With Bitcoin, we've lately been seeing a lot of quick price rebounds. This support indicates one thing, that the market is thinking "don't be sore, buy some more!"

We've seen the same exist for Litecoin and Ethereum too.

The price decreased happening right now is not on critical level and im so sure that this downfall will not take for so deep since people are preparing their fiats to buy cheap BTC at this moment so don't ever expect that theirs another big fall will be happen since History happening on bitcoins will not repeat and people would not let it to be happen since they might gonna lose some money also if bitcoins fall for more.

Yeah looks that's just a trap because before we have see the price rise many time before the price decreasing like in some days. we should not be panic like many trader do before the price stay over $2000.

It is on the verge of recovery already - honestly it was a hell of a buy for those people who bought from the low of $2.5k. It seems like that the price won't go under that set barrier for a long time. If you bought in at 2.5k and held till now it would have been an easy $250 for you in a span of one day or less.

I don't think that it is going to decrease further, because a) we've seen the price rebound as soon as it hits the floor set by the markets and b) Australia and Japan legalizing bitcoin will bring the price of bitcoin up.

Good idea to hold some bitcoins if you are not already, the worst that will happen is a crash all the way back to $2000. That's not that bad, nor do i think that is likely going to happen.

I second this but not in the point that I would say that the worst that could happen is back to the $2000 price range. I think the worst that could happen is if it goes back down to $1750 - $2000, but below that I do not see bitcoin going that low.

Nobody can predict exactly how much bitcoin will crash by, because it is so volatile. Someone claiming to be able to do so is just a scammer/confidence trickster probably trying to get you to use their affiliate link on a trading site or trying to offer to you a secret trading course that you need to pay money for.

The BTC/USD index has been pretty stable at the 2700 USD region despite the recent adjustment. Personally i don't think that it will crash further. Even if it does 2500 USD is the floor. Go to coinmarketcap charts and zoom in on the btc/usd pair, you'll see clearly that once the price got near 2500 people starting buying in again. There is no way that bitcoin will go sub $2000 in the medium term. If it does then, perfect time to buy.

Price decreasing is quite common with bitcoin and other digital currencies. Right now bitcoin is in a stabilty gain state, this has provided with the price fluctuations to happen without any big pumps to reach $3000. Hope this will take time for us to reach the $3000 as we've gone down to $2700.

I was here in 2013 when the big crash happened, and the parallels are stunning.  The same rampant euphoria, the same perceived impossibility of Bitcoin not dropping significantly. It's frightening to see.
Especially the peak euphoria is something that worries me: people assume it 'must'  go to 3000 dollar+ (with 5000 dollars and even 10.000 dollars not even being rare as 'end of year' predictions!), while not even considering this might be the top for now, while it may downtrend for months on end.

Bitcoin is showing strong bear flags as of late, and I'd advise all of you to be very careful and rethink what you're holding. Try to find some posts from the past and see how people responded there, before it retraced all the way back by about 70%.

Also, don't forget that Bitcoin fell from about 85-90% market share earlier on this year to less than 50% (currently 38,7%!) in a matter of a few months. Bitcoin might have appreciated, but the competition is going much quicker. Put things into perspective, do your research and please: be careful! Don't lose touch with reality out of ideological inclination.

yes the price of bitcoin is now decreasing and increasing, it is sometime increase and decrease, today's price is about 2500 dollars but i think the price of bitcoin will not go below 2400 dollars or 2300 dollars because i think its price is stable at that amount and i am sure that in few days it will start going up because the price is now recovering.

Yes, would be without major bad news. Market is more matured now and big swings are much more expensive today.

But August hardfork may give us the bad news and opportunity to buy cheap.
