I`ve been searching and reading a lot, but cant find anything related to Batch 7, most of posts are for batch 8.
I have S7 B7 with September`s firmware. On Bitmain website available is December`s version-does anyone have any issues with the newest firmware? Does the newest firmware make any difference?

Another issue is loudness.
Did anyone change fans-any opinions.
Right now my fans are working on 60% -3960 and 3720 with average temp 62C but even they are in different part of house, behind locked door , still can hear them really loud.
should i lower fan speed percentage to make them quieter?
Does it make sens to put big pedestal fan -40cm to get extra cooling?

thanks for any info

You can lower the fan speed percentage to 33% then the sound will be better
-Also i was thinking if you put the miner in a sound isolating box and leave 2 wholes for the air (in/out).
- or to connect the miner's exhaust to a PVC pipe that is lined with foam
Somehow it should be a solution to make the s7 housefriendly and really quiet

what do you guys think ?  Shocked

WTB working or unstable KNC TITAN cubes.

Can work and help but a lot of noise is omnidirectional. What i think is Sonopan;
http://pacwestsystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Alcor-Sonopan-Acoustical-Panel.pdf

I'm building a box of it around solid plastic shelves, so far its a nice difference. In a bit i'll be able to tell what it does for a S7, but i should be able to make it completely silent.

I have S7 B7 with September`s firmware. On Bitmain website available is December`s version-does anyone have any issues with the newest firmware? Does the newest firmware make any difference?

...

Batch 7 is the last antminer, which was good with your efficiency. Basically  they are the same, as Batch 3 and 5 only sorted and better blades/chips and default frequency is 625.

But like overclocked to frequency 625 Batch3 miners, they are also very hot.  I use  my 2x S7 from Batch7 with frequency 600, and they are quiet.

You can put together 2 antminer S7 from Batch7 with one controller, software support 6 blades.

The new December software has been castrated and support only  3 blades.

The latest software, you can use with the  6 blade is from Oktober SD-S7-20151023-600M.tar.gz

drop fans to 55 %  and look into this material  if gear goes over 65c go back up to 60%

the whole miner fits into this
http://www.lowes.com/pd_481274-85334-MEA-1225-6_1z0uauh__?productId=50401806&pl=1

on this you attach a piece on intake and out flow fans
http://www.lowes.com/pd_481266-85334-DEI-0625-6_0__?productId=50401792&Ntt=

cut a 2 foot piece for the intake and use the long piece to direct heat to where you want.

Phil gave you some good idea's.  As far as noise if you don't do a mod like that the S7 is noisy it is not for people who need it quiet, unless you plan on doing some sound proofing.   I would not switch fan's though anymore even that voids warranty.   Phil's idea to turn down and watch close is better.

My biggest advice is don't upgrade unless you see a big flaw needing fixed or feature you need.  It just is not worth putting the miner through chance of bricking for little updates in my opinion.

another option is to underclock by 50-100MHz (lose 200-400GH) and you will have about 50-100W less heat to deal with, and can run the fans a bit lower.

Im currently at 16% fans on a B8, with 61-66C temperatures and set for 4.45TH. (the -1C intake air helps)

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461
No longer a wannabe - now an ASIC owner!

IN my close to free power 1 s-7 limit setup.

I run at freq 500 or 4000gh  fans are at 30% temps are 62.

THis is my friends office.

I get 1 15 amp break to use, I have to use 120 volt power and keep the noise okay.

So far so good.  While many would say you are losing 800 to 900 gh I say I am paying 2.66 cents per kwatt at his place. So it is a nice setup for now.

I have some more space an may try to use some ductwork in his place. so I could go up to 4400 or 4600 gh.

if u turn down frequency u loose work, if u change fans it will get too hot and same thing or maybe fire!

FIX THE LOUDNESS, FIX THE NOISE!
THE ONLY SOLUTION THAT ACTUALLY WORKED FOR ME.
