Hey guys,
I recently got the Inno3d iChill X4 1080 TI, performance wise the card is doing good 710-730 sol/s on stock BUT with the fans at 100% temps are holding at 80*C which is too much for running 24/7 so I lowered the TDP to 80% and now the card is at a constant 70*C. Should I buy a big-ass ventilator to blow in the PC? Will that lower the temps ?
Thanks

80C is just fine, nvidia spec limits normal operating temperatures to 82C on the 10 series. You can probably lower the power limit even more though, I got a bunch of 980TI's running at 50% power with +200 clock and get the same hash rate in memory intensive algorithms as I would at 100% power limit. Takes some tweaking but should be easier on the 1080Ti since you don't even need to mod the bios to deal with nvidia driver fuckery.

To Hash or not to Hash, that's what the question

TDP/CLOCKS/ETC - MSI AFTERBURNER seem to be the most popular utility. There alternatives from many manufacturers though. Inno3d iChill X4 1080 TI, performance wise the card is doing good 710-730 sol/s on stock - thats pretty good speed, what are your clocks for core/mem ?

For NVIDIA cards you can use this command:
"C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI\nvidia-smi.exe" -pl x
Replace x with the maximum watts you want the card to use. If you have multiple cards, it will set all cards to this level. I set my GTX 1070s to 125. Run the command with no parameters to get the current stats for your GPUs.

Return it if you can, because it's probably damaged or just terrible design. My MSI 1080Ti runs at 60 degrees @ 60% fanspeed and 50 degrees @ 100% fanspeed. 80 degrees on stock setting are absolutely unacceptable.

There is nothing wrong in reaching 80ºC with a custom 1080Ti card. All my GPUs are temperature limited in MSI Afterburner to 75ºC, I use this like a "safe" measure.

He is mining Zcash, which uses GPU more than memory. My MSI 1080Ti is at 65C at <50% fan speed mining Ethereum, but if I go +125 on clock and mine ZEN, it goes up to 82C. Ethereum doesn't push temps as bad as Zcash.
