Thanks SciGuy. I'm interested in this because of Jez and company. Like the venture maxim states, "you invest in people not ideas." New to crypto and completed fascinated and entirely daunted. Prima facie, this looks like a very good long term play.

You may be new to crypto, but I can tell you have a background to move forward in this space... especially if you can appreciate long term play. I imagine short term gains is an all-consuming concept in many minds.

I would like to note that I only discovered FUN one day ago, but I read everything on Reddit, ETHtrader interviews with Jez San, and went through as much of the Slack chat as possible (he posts actively there) where I copied most of his messages in order to have a strong understanding.

I found that the research didn't take long and it allowed me to reduce anxiety and increase confidence (a priceless endeavor)... and also to learn some hidden/quiet information that isn't publicly mentioned.

For example, players in games can be shown their local currencies and not crypto... but they will actually be playing with FUN, it will just show up as fiat.

A quote from Jez discussing what Phase 2 will contain:

Phase 2 (of the games, not of the token sale)... is just a UI change.   there's nothing to stop anyone who's not in crypto from playing this too.   any payment processor (hundreds of them) can offer players to bridge the credit card to crypto chasm.   they can take the player's credit card, buy FUN for them, and let them play the games.   We can show the player their local currency in the games, and not crypto.   they will actually be playing in FUN, but they will be seeing it in FIAT.   Their Payment processor not only buys and sells FUN for them with credit cards... and returns it to the card afterwards... but also looks after their wallet, and uses derivative smart contracts to protect the currency hedge.

A quote regarding token dilution during Phase 2:

Yes, any unsold tokens in phase 2, which is likely if the price has risen from now til that date, will be returned to phase 1 holders.  making it sortof an anti dilution effect

Just found this gem last night and scooped up some FUN right away and will hold for years.
My only concern is, its built on Ethereum, with their bloated main chain.
LISK would be much better, then FunFair would have it's own blockchain (side chain), unaffected by the constant issues with the Ethereum main chain.

Appreciate the sentiment SciGuy. Big ups to you.

Given the nascent nature of crypto in general, we can all expect massive perturbations in the market. It's a given. In terms of numbers, there have been three "crashes" in the last six weeks or so that, in stock markets terms, would have engendered two recessions and one depression. Overall, the market is up since then.

Volatility is enormously relative. To someone who uses traditional stocks as a comparison, it's unfathomably unstable. To someone in Venezuela or Greece, cryptos may not seem unstable despite their rises and falls. Why? Because their currencies drop and don't come back. Cryptos vacillate wildly but experience overall growth. Unstable currencies don't realize growth; they fall and don't come back.  This is a hugely welcome change of pace I'd imagine.

As for Funfare, it's not perfect and it shouldn't be. Given the surprising amount of volume, traders will hinder growth in the short term as will early investors taking the short term profits. Personally, I like a company that focused on the product and less on the investment side. They have plenty of money raised and pocketed some as well. I don't mind that because we're dealing with professionals who didn't walk into the space broke. They're in no rush to see these numbers go up in a trader's market. Let the product find its legs and the money will follow. As for their building on ethereum, that's debatable. Ether is still considered by the professional investment community as the platform of choice and I'm sure their choice hinged on this. We all know that Windows is not exactly the best OS but it's done pretty well. I wouldn't want to trade funfare right now but it didn't stop me from buying some. My average cost was around 700 and it's under 600 at the moment. I could care less.

Hi Myriad Force,

I presented Jez (the developer) with your question and wanted to relay his response:

Ethereum is the network of choice right now. Not sure lisk would offer us much benefit. Ethereum is a rapidly innovating and well supported network.  The ecosystem is very rich and there's a lot of assets on the blockchain which gives us access to customers who have funds.  And since all tokens are erc-20 compatible, automated exchanging from one token to another is quite trivial and lots of exchanges will support this, as will protocols like 0x etc.

In short, we get a lot of benefit in being on the ethereum blockchain and although its technically feasible to run on other smart contract enabled blockchains, it still might not be worth doing if the rest of the ecosystem isn't there.

Another quote from him that further elaborates on the benefits of utilizing Eth:

"Sciguy, other reasons.  Winter is coming!  Sorry, i meant, Metropolis.   it brings new features that we really like as well.   like EC math (lets us and other people do zk-Snarks, for good privacy, but more importantly for us, lets us do BLS random numbers (aka herd randomness, ok, I just made that phrase up).  Also, in Metropolis, the contract is able to pay the gas, which further lowers the barrier to entry of new customers playing with FUN for the first time.  ie, their account only needs FUN in it, and doesn't need any Ether as well."

To add to it, in this interview, Jez explains how the only time a customer would wait on the ETH network is at the very beginning when entering the game, so it wouldn't be held hostage to a bloated main chain

Thanks for the info SciGuy. I bought more when it breached 500. I will break all my own rules and buy as it continues to go down and even chase momentum if it rises. Platform techs have done well historically and in many ways, this is no different. As an overall investment infrastructure technologies have performed better as an asset class than anyone. A couple of friends in London told me that the development team, not just the brass is top notch. If I sound like a shill, I'm not. At this juncture, I'm an interested and nominally invested party en route to an enthusiast. Perhaps devotee awaits.  Smiley Given the volume, I don't think anyone short of an institution could truly shill for this.

Greeting from NYC. Just wanted to say that I fortuitously stumbled onto your coin a couple of days ago. After performing the requisite diligence, readily invested. Color me a supporter of the model and your work. I hope the market's most recent vicissitudes have not discouraged or distracted.

Regards and continued success,

Jez San (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jez_San) is the most accomplished CEO in the crypto world and the casino platform he has built is ready to go live.

Here is a link to the technology showcase: https://showcase.funfair.io/

Last night Jez published a blog post on Reddit and it's been sitting on the top page of Ethtrader, which is the first time most people in crypto have heard about FUN. The ICO price was .01 USD - it listed on Bittrex las week and ran to .045 USD, but has gotten destroyed since then and is now back to .01 USD.

I'm not pumping this, I'm planning to hold for a few years because I think Funfair will be the first wide use adoption of the ETH blockchain. Blackjack, slots, roulette... this is not reinventing the wheel, as Jez explains in this blog post:

Is anyone concerned over the 6,400,000,000 (6.4 Billion) tokens kept by founders?  Is it just me that thinks this is a ripoff on the backs of greedy for gain investors that are not even thinking and are just caught up in the illusion of becoming millionaires?  6.4 Billion? It must not mean much in Crypto World?

Ya, me. I just sold all my Fun. After 1 billion its like f that, game over. It aint even so much about the billions of tokens going to dev team. Well maybe a little. But just having billions of coins at all messes up the investment part of the deal. I ain't waiting 5 - 10 years for an ROI. Who's in charge of this / these ico's anyway? They need to be fired so damn hard. 50 - 100 million, now that's a nice range. 500 million and its like dang bro! I'm still in but dang! After that you better be selling some super dope shizzit!

After reading the white paper the "Fate Channel" technology really feels like the backbone of the project to me. I'm very interested in the potential that this new take on state channels has to offer.

Yeah you should really join the discord and pay attention to the chat there. The maximal token amount created is current, but what might happen is a huge amount burned. They are trying to gauge what the issuance should be come the main ico.

I am disappointed to invest the Fun Fair because Suply does not make sense, and if all altcoin down I'm sure will step on 50 sitting with the current inventory amount.    Angry Angry
