So there is this hype right now of altcoin creations, ICOs and als that stuff. And I have been reading a LOT about everything for a couple of months right now. But it is still not clear to me why I should create an altcoin, except for the fact that it is fun and I coudl get rich of people buying in in the ICO. But are there other reasons to create an altcoin? Please give me some nice examples Smiley

I don't know why you would create an altcoin, but a team working on the SONM project is doing so because there is an opportunity to cover necessities like decentralized web hosting, drug research, scientific computing, new mining method replacing PoW, just to mention a few new features, the SONM team is working hard to make all happen.

So there are many reasons why new projects are working creating new altcoins, new functionalities, new alternatives, new possibilities.

There are many reason are/want to create new altcoins, some focus more in the anonymity and try to not have any bugs or any other thing that would leak this.

Some other focus on stability and some other in scaling much better than the actual altcoins, but all of these want to have low fee, high popularity.

And why not be your own boss, be a "Satoshi Nakamodo" owning a coin Tongue

I think a big chunk of people create altcois to steal BTC from gulable/greedy people and give them useless coins in return when the thing is worth 90% less then the real BTC they gave to the people who copy/pasted the coin software and website and BS sales ANN. They are just crooks knowing that the only value they are providing is stealing Bitcoin! Now not everyone is going this like Wagerr has a idea they are going to try to make work that's not what I'm talkign about.
