Hi
Bought MAXIMUS VIII HERO and trying to run 6 gpus.

I started opus by adding one by one gpu 4 gpus works great,

But when I add 5th gpu it does not recognize the 5th gpu and when I exchange cables of 5th gpu to any 4th or 3rd gpu it starts to recognize the the 5th but remove the 3rd or 4th gpu means it only recognizes 4 risers not 5th.

Updated vie internet option to the current bios.

When I enable Above 4g Decoding option in bios pc hangs on startup??

Followed this youtube guy instructions but no effect. He is running 6 GPUs on Asus Maximus Vii so I think it will be possible on Mine Viii Hero?

did you changed PCI-E setting in BIOS. Set PCI-E to GEN 1.0 and enable Above 4g Decoding. I remember this 2 settings were necessary to do.

In some bioses there is an option for MULTI MONITOR SUPPORT - make sure you will enable that one too.
If you have PCIE GEN option that says AUTO, i would leave it unchanged.

@djentmining Did you use some kind of PCI-E splitter to get a 7th in there?  Is that the maximum for those mobo?

Yeah the asus maximus viii hero only has 1x M.2 so max is 7 cards. Using NGFF to PCI-E X4 slot adapter got them from amazon. Plug and play no need to connect the 4 pin power that comes with it.
You can get the Asus Prime Z270-A has 2x M.2 gives you a total of 9 cards pretty cool plus them asus boards are so easy to setup and mine better than asrock and biostar.

Tell me how it goes if you decided to get one.

Cheers.

Overclock has nothing to do with the mb detecting cards bro! plus why would you OC your RAM just leave it at default should be 2133MHz

This is what i understood from you post unless i've missed something please elaborate would be happy to help Smiley

Default on DDR3 is 1600, even auto OC (XMP) will make my motherboard just silent when start (not post), must reset bios.

Can you list the parts you're using for your rig please.

Thanks

Actually this rig is gaming rig before.
Asus Maximus VII Ranger, I7 4790k 4.4Ghz (before 4.8GHz) and 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 (before I used to OC it to 2100 or 2133).
I think still better using H110/B250 Mining other than another gaming board.
So what make my rig can get more than 5 GPU is, reset bios to normal, change cpu core to 4.4 skip XMP for ram (if I change to XMP motherboard wont post) enable 4G, change to gen1 even all other setting, save and restart.

Just bought this MB, from box it's really doesn't work even with 1 card thru raiser. And it haves old BIOS 2202 which dated 2016/09/26. I upgraded it to latest BIOS 3703 and it worked fine with my 5 GPUs without any tuning.

No, i am using Linux, no drivers needed.

Little update. I had to switch all PCI-E to Gen2, because it wasn't always starting robust. Another notice - when you send system to shutdown, it isn't shutting down actually, but enters in some stuck state.

You should probably ask for the settings that that guy used and it should work. If not, you should seek help to the computer store where you bought that.
