Hello, i am new to this whole crypto trading type thing and i was wondering if anyone could give me any recommendations on altcoins for my first buy ins? Alt coins i've been looking up thus far are Nexus and Viacoin? What are ur opinion on them? What about Golem? I'm not looking to be a daily trader i'm just looking for good gain on investment throughout ~couple month period, Thank you in advance Smiley
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Maybe stick to altcoins in the top dozen at CoinMarketCap that have not already been pumped.

Viacoin is still a solid investment if you're looking to hold. I would also recommend looking in to zcoin lots of potential left also longterm Smiley

I recommend researching BAY. It is a good long-term hold. It has a functional marketplace and not just a plan like some other coins. If you download the market client and you can use their faucet and get your first 100 coins for free.

Check out the links in my sig. Come join the slack and ask anything you want.

So you are suggesting to not invest then? (nothing in top 12 has not being pumped 😜)

I think before investing to any altcoin here, just browse the thread of some top altcoins (i.e. using CoinMarketCap as reference). And learn how to feel the potential of a particular coin. You can get good insights just by reading some of the related threads here. You can't learn this overnight.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I would buy some Ripple. It looks ready for a breakout. Also ETC

The most important thing is that you stick to your buy and hold plan. Even if your selected coins falls below the price you bought it for don't sell it. Rather buy coins when they are cheap.

This would be the nicest mindset to bare for those people who undergo on tradings dilemna since it can save their money if their bare this kind of thinking since mostly coins are suffering from dumps and certain flaws, And if you join to avail their dumps surely you will get the best profit you can get by the time the coin you are staking will pump so hard.

My advise would be to check out all the coins ,look at their ICO prices and look at the volume and if you think that it is under valued or it is below the ICO price you could get into it and hopefully profit from it in the short term, check out all the new ICO,where you could potentially make some good money if you are investing in a good and promising project.

I am no expert, but my advise is Never invest money you cannot afford to lose. Feel free to invest in any coins you find interesting. And enjoy the crypto world's ups and downs.

Perhaps you should try Ethereum Classic. It seems to be at the beginning of a pump that will probably follow Litecoin’s.

Good Luck.

There are so many thread here talking about a certain coin you check it one by one and read whats the input of the people about that certain coin. And then after that do your research about that coin, then you have to consider if the team is active and if they have successful projects and coming projects. So if you feel and sure that the coin is promising then go for it.

My biggest investment is Waves. I have a few more coins, but for me, Waves seems to be one of the best longterm investments. Despite of that, do your own research and dont make a decision because someone is writing this or that coin is the best (;

Edgless is still relatively cheap. It has not had a major pump yet. It is new and once they start getting used on bitcoin casinos it will be worth a lot more. Edgeless token has just started to get some attention so now is a good time.

I think Monero is a bargain ATM and it was pumped almost a year ago, so time for some action. It is definitely in an uptrend but it can have wild swings so i consider it a buy and hold unless you are a seasoned day trader.

Maybe stick to altcoins in the top dozen at CoinMarketCap that have not already been pumped.

Imho, rule #1 is to balance your portfolio:
40% of top10 / top12 coins (BTC, ETH, ETC, XRP, STRAT ...). evenly balanced.
40% of top10-50 "big names" you can find here and there (XVG, WAVES, STEEM, ARDOR, NXT...)
15% of <80M market cap (VOX, BAT, ARK, BAY, VIA...)
5% of ICO (WGR, MCO, ...)

More important: Read about the coins before you invest.
You don't need to understand the technology at 100%, but at least get a good idea of the use case and the business model: does this coin address a big market? how its technology makes sense in solving a particular problem? etc...
Don't forget to have a look at the team behing (LinkedIn them).

Here are some of my thoughts, randomly:

    - I like ARK, they try to make "the blockchain for everybody" and their smartbridge tech looks promising.

    - I am ultra-super-duper-bullish for ADROR, because its child chains and business model can make it the next ETH (and ETH seems challenged...). The best coin so far in June 2017 (imvvvvvvho)

    - I absolutely love VOX, because they address the AR/VR (virtual reality) market, and it's furiously booming and I believe that users will soon create their own content, using Unity or other 3D tools and will want to sell them (I was in Asia last week at the CES... crazy)
It is a small market, but VOX is still very very under-valuated and could go for a x10.

    - I love WGR, because I believe that the blockchain and the smart contracts are perfect for online betting. It makes a lot of sense. I am a bit concerned about their team quality, but so far they are doing a great job and the ICO was perfectly organized. Kudos.

    - I have mixed feelings about BAT: they address a huge market (advertisement) and their use case makes sense, but the Ad Market is trusted by tech giants who can bypass them at anytime. I still own some BAT speculatively.

    - I also have (had) mixed feelings about STEEM, but this social media creates some buzz and could be a strong competitor to reddit. Moreover, I blogged and made $100 in STEEM on it (happy :-)), so it is "real".

    - I love BAY, because they keep it simple and stay within what makes the blockchain awesome: trade and contracts. They value proposition is clear and the technology is good.

    - MCO looks cool, it solves a problem, but they will have to fight regulations, and on top of that their business model is not fantastic (low 1% commission, banks will never accept that and could try to "kill" MCO with regulations and lobbying)

I hope it helps. Worst case scenario, you lose everything (be ready for that), but you would have learnt something.

and FINALLY...  the best advice anybody can give you: DON'T TRUST ANYONE ON THE FORUMS...
(...especially posts like mine ;-) )
