I am new to mining and started to use claymore for mining ethereum. I heard my PSU making weird electrical noises when I had all six GPUs running at once. I called NVIDIA and they mentioned that the minimum PSU watt should be 1350 for six GPUs. I have seen numerous videos online of people using 1200W PSUs with 6 or more GPUs (GTX 1070s included). Am I overreacting or is there something that I am missing regarding these mining builds? I haven't overclocked the motherboard yet or done anything of that sort - currently getting 155 MH/S with all 6 running.
If you're mining Eth, reduce power limit to 65% or even 60% with just an overclock on the memory and see what hash you get. You can get these cards down to ~100W each with minimal loss in mining performance and the 1200W starts looking like overkill
