I dont know why some people do choose coinbase rather on blockchain? They are just seeing on the feature that you can able to buy and sell bitcoin on coinbase and yes its possible since its an exchange which  blockchain is just really a pure web wallet but in terms of security i will really go for blockchain.info (hands down) incase they stop operate you can still have access on your bitcoin since you do have the private key.

Just a correction you can't get your private key directly from blockchain.info, only the recovery phrase, but there's a way to get those private keys using the seed.
And I bet they only choose coinbase for buy and sell, not for storing funds in a long run but if they do then they completely don't know how to secure their coins.

I'm not familiar with that thanks for sharing. However, I totally give up using blockchain.info because I thought I can't get the private key directly from them. Will check out that one later.

Exactly. This should be a rather simple method to used. And don't put all your funds in a exchange because we already know that hackers are really targeting it now because of the money involved. Just put enough funds their for your trading purpose and transfer it to a more secure wallet that you have total control of the private keys.

I think blockchain is better than coinbase, this is because the security features blockchain.info more complete and diverse than coinbase, and from the side of blockchain delivery costs are cheaper than coinbase. So, I use blockchain.info.

Just a little advice for those using Coinbase. Check again the list of countries allowed to use their service. Recently there are some countries that have been removed from their list, and they are closing the accounts of people from those countries. And this, without any warning or news, whatever. And so far, it's really hard to get your coins back, as their horrible customers support needs at least 1 week to reply to you. Better safe than sorry, be sure to check the list

None! But, Blockchain are literally the biggest wallet provider. In the case, the difference between these two services then Blockchain will be the 1st position to follow up user privacy and so on.

I think Coinbase is decent for the very casual user, that's not really into the tech side of Bitcoin.  It's very easy to use and you don't need to worry about private keys.  Some people don't even know what that is.

I initially stored coins in there, until they went down repeatedly and eventually transferred out to wallets where I have my own private key, esp for the hard fork.

I've used 2 web wallets, and I think they're good. But now, with XAPO's 2FA security feature we have to install apps on Google Playstore, making me prefer Xapo over coinbase.

I used coinbase a long time, because it ran proper, transactions worked very fast and coinbase didn't demand transactions fees, so they paid the fees. Now I use wallets, that support im- and exporting private keys and that allow own adjusting of transfer fees.

You can export private key from Blockchain.info if you have imported your private key to blockchain.info address before. Keep in mind you can't check private key from default address provided by Blockchain.info, so if you don't have imported address on your account you can't see the private key.

Because my address came from vanitygen and I have imported my private key to Blockchain.info I can check them every time.

I never used Coinbase, but i heard from a lot of people and read somewhere that they don't give access to private keys which means you cannot import your wallet to any other wallet through your private keys so if you lose access to the site, your coins are gone. So i recommend using blockchain as you can import addresses their and you will have private keys for those wallets as well.

Better yet, just use your own local wallet. And take it a step further, moving most of your coins offline completely. Blockchain.info definitely has security vulnerabilities; you don't control the software that's broadcasting transactions signed by your private keys. If their service is compromised, you could be tricked into signing transactions that steal your coins.

Blockchain.info gives you more security and control over your funds than Coinbase, but it's not ideal. I'd suggest Electrum for a simple, lightweight wallet. I think its UI is superior to Blockchain.info anyway.

Coinbase doesn't let you to own your private keys of your bitcoins you will hold there and we do know that if you don't own your private keys you don't own any bitcoin. While both Coinbase and Blockchain.info are both web wallets and are not that recommended comparing the two Blockchain.info is better because they let you to have control over your private keys different from Coinbase. Nevertheless it is better for you to use a desktop wallet like Electrum cause this way you don't rely on third party websites to do your transactions but only on your desktop.

Need some spare btc for a new PC

I've been using blockchain.info wallet ever since and never did I have a single problem. Tho, there was a "problem" once when I've used their recommended fee and my tx got stuck, but other than that never had any problems. I've never used coinbase and I probably never will, but I wouldn't be holding my btc on an exchange site anyways.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Blockchain and Coinbase? I won’t even waste time to mention Blockchain as the best. Yes, Blockchain is more better than Coinbase. Coinbase is the third on my list of favorite Bitcoin wallets, cause I prefer Xapo over Coinbase. The 2 Factor Authentication is quite an advancement in their security, and that makes it more secure than most of the other wallets out there.

Because Coinbase is an exchange wallet and most of the exchanges wallet doesn't really provided their users their private keys. and blockchain.info is purely a bitcoin web wallet so basically it's a must they will have a feature of getting private keys. I don't mind using Coinbase since they are regulated and their identity is transparent.

In Coinbase you can buy and sell bitcoin which is not possible on blockchain.info. Well both wallets have advantages over one of them so just used whenever fits your criteria.

I'm pretty sure they all have 2FA. Coinbase is a trusted third party, but they are tightly regulated and extremely well-funded, and would likely be able to repay following any site compromise. Blockchain.info has security vulnerabilities even though you can control your own private keys; since you don't control the software, transactions you sign could potentially be altered (variants of MITM attacks) if the site itself becomes compromised. I don't know much about Xapo, personally.
