i have the same question,
when my card arrives i will try nemosminer and directly ETH and then decide which is more profitable.
Nicehash is also a possibility.
Maybe some other 1070 owners will tell us their experiences.

Stick to eth, if you want you can dual mine Sia/DCR, but this ll increase your power draw

http://whattomine.com/

on the lower right, click on the button that says 1070 (should go green) then put how many 1070's you have.  Then you can calculate and see what is the best coin.  A lot of options available...

ZCash and ETH  are ahead, typically trading blows depending on the rises and drops of their prices. You can Dual ETH+SIA for a bit extra reward at the cost of higher power draw and the inconvenience of having the earnings in 2 coins.

For my 1070 with memory Samsung is now equally profitable ZCash and ETH. The ETH heats up the map less, than ETH mine now.

I'm still mining ETH and with my four 1070 cards my estimated earnings is around $ 180 a month. Two days ago I was noticed a change in the difficulty and the calculation changed slightly for the better. I might also try DUAL mining with SIA. I have never tried so far.

Ethereum seems to be the best coin to mine with a GTX 1070 so far, it consumes about 15 watt less than when mining Zcash which is the second best coin to mine. I did my test at a rig of some friends with my watt meter and it showed a 15 watt energy consumed less for a card. For one card there is not a lot of difference but for 6 of them it's almost 100 watt cheaper per hour and it makes a difference in countries with expensive energy cost.

Maybe when Bitcoin gold comes out it will be a good coin to mine as it will be new and based on Equihash , an algorithm where Nvidia excel at mining.

I had a very similar result with energy consumption when it comes to Zcash and I agree that Zcash is the second best coin to mine with the 1070 card, but according to me I still think that ETH is more cost-effective. Do you perhaps know how to mine BTC Gold? Which mining program to use and how to setup the rig or it's too early for such information.

nVidia GTX 1070 are the bests GPUs to mine.
Ethereum is still profitable and tu upgrade your results, you have absolutely to dual-mine with SiaCoin and minimize the power comsuption to the minimum (100 or 115 W it's depends of the manufacturer) : the hashrate will not decrease.

If Gtx 1070 have Samsung memory of course Eth. But if Gtx 1070 have hynix memory, then Zec better. I think.

If you have only one GPU, good luck.

If I had one GPU I will mining AEON or Monero otherwise it's take so long time to profit and maybe cannot make a profit because the power consumption will decrease coin you get.

i actually want to ask this question. in fact i build my PC for Gaming, but i want to mine if i can.
i have tried mining zcash with this graphic card , but i don't know how much profit i get, i never tried to mine 24 hour because i was worried if my graphic card are quickly demaged.  anyway is that zcash the best coin for mining with gtx 1070?
if i look in https://whattomine.com/ the best coin to mine with GTX 1070 right know is zencash with $2.49 profit?
