What's there to surprise, once after the legalizing of bitcoin within the country within a short time period around 22k shops around the country started accepting bitcoin. Also one thing important to be noted is that these Countries doesn't have any card acceptance before accepting bitcoin. Now they believe their trade has increased than the past.

Is this your speculation or this really happen on there? I know Japan is familiar with bitcoin, but I think there is still mtgox effect on there. And accepting crypto currency as payment need to announce by the company. Do you have any link about this capsule hotel announcement?

This is the first time that I am hearing about these "capsule hotels", so I spent some time in YouTube and Google researching about it. I was surprised with what I found. These Japanese people.. they are really weird. But anyway, I am glad that more and more places are accepting Bitcoin.

Here is the link: https://news.bitcoin.com/japanese-capsule-hotels-bitcoin/I find in weird this capsule hotel though. But I respect the Japanese culture. I think they still have the Mt. Gox effect but since they already legalized the used of bitcoin in their country, I think the fear may have subside a little. That is why you will see a lot of big businesses in Japan are already accepting bitcoin. Just like what Comics & Capsule Hotel Comicap operated by Runsystem Co. Ltd. did.

With Capsule hotels in Japan leading the way to accept bitcoins as payment, I could foresee more hotels in Japan starting to allow customers to pay in bitcoins too, this could be a good way to raise sales of rooms for the hotel as bitcoins is getting more popular, there would be more customers hoping to use their bitcoins to pay for goods and services.

I saw a video about this hotel. Look very futuristic. I don't know how much it cost but for sure it is not for me. The capsule look like a box for the cats when you travel. I assume the price is high so for a high price I would prefer to have a nice bedroom is a hotel with sauna, slaves, ect. Not a box where if your fart your neighboor can hear you

This is no news as what is expected to happen and the same thing will happen if other government should accept bitcoin. Most companies have the interest of accepting that but not all are bold enough to stand on the other side of the law because in business, if its not documented, it does not exist and that exactly what is going on here and the moment the government takes a stand, others will follow it could be mild but eventually they will fall in line.

Those rooms are perfect for making out but then you are too exposed, I think the most important business that needs to adopt bitcoin seriously is porn, it's multi billion dollar industry and people will never stop fu*king and never get tired of watching What we need to hear is that Japan or any other country wants to launch a large mining farm which will defuse Wu's time bomb easily.

It is not a speculation, since bitcoin is legal any business will start accepting bitcoin and that is not a hot news. If you are traveling to Japan and you are in a budget then capsule hotels is the best bet, other than that it is bloody expensive ,even in capsule hotels you have to shell out US$30 to $50 per night and staying in a capsule hotel means you might feel like staying in a morgue. and if you are claustrophobic it is not the best place to crash.

I decided to look up how much it costs to stay in a capsule hotel for a night, and it costs close to $25USD/night. I thought something like this might be able to function as some very affordable housing for some people, but I guess not. $600USD/month is almost on par for rent in some non-major cities within the US and Canada. Aside from that, sounds like a cool idea. If I ever end up going to a place like Japan I might actually be able to make use of something like this, however I don't know how comfortable it would be. Definitely an interesting idea though.

First of all thanks to the member for posting an image which helped me understand what a capsule hotel is. And secondly, It's a commendable step taken first by the government of Japan by recognizing bitcoin as a legal method of payment and now by the people of Japan by accepting bitcoin for their services and products. Japan has set the trend and I hope other countries will follow it soon.

These capsule hotels may look fun and weird, but I don't think they're all that relevant to be honest. I also don't fully believe the Bitcoin / Japan hype as of yet, but since it's a heavily cash-based society it may be quite a good match after all.

What a weird looking hotel, but at the same time it beats sleeping in a storage unit or sleeping on the street it will be nice if hotels like this became more popular in other countries, since I suppose the accommodation will be cheaper than the prices that are offered in Japan, since Japan is a very expensive country to live in.

At least get the damn title straight It's the hotels that are accepting bitcoin not bitcoin is taking capsule hotels. And it's nothing new: https://news.bitcoin.com/japans-largest-online-travel-agent-bitcoin-hotels/The bitcoin exchange Bitpoint has partnered with Japan’s largest online travel agent Evolable Asia to bring bitcoin payments and exchange services to over 1,400 hotels and inns across Japan this summer.

This again proves that when a country starts to legalize and endorse bitcoin all the citizens there will be benefited. Merchants that were previously unsure about the regulations that involve bitcoin now has incentive to start afresh with their bitcoin journey. Personally I've been to Japan and actually stayed in one of these cute capsules, it's an awesome experience. Hotels accepting bitcoin is a win-win because it means that tourists are able to avoid extravagant foreign exchange fees, and pay in bitcoin. Merchants are able to ensure that nobody uses a fraudulent credit card to purchase for their room/services, which is a plus for them.
