I am not an expert about wordpress (I have just been using it here and there from time to time) but wouldn't it be a better idea to create your site using a CMS more appropriate for ecommerce ? Such as Prestashop or Oscommerce ?
Personnally I would recommend using Joomla with one of it's various ecommerce component (why not Vmart ? I like Hikashop too !)
