I don't think so Amazon will accept bitcoin anytime soon, as much as we all like Bitcoins we keep forgetting, only Japan is allowing to be used freely, rest have not restricted it but no official word on it. Then the issue of commission that seller and Amazon will have say they sold it when prices were low, but had to pay commission when prices were high, to many points, I don't think they are equipped to handle Bitcoin but good luck with your petition who knows it may actually give them food for thought.

Amazon should be happy enough with the situation as is, Purse manages to bring them a huge volume without the need of additional investments or even a code tweak. After all BTC has some ~15 daily million users around the globe while amazon has some ~225 million active customers. In their eyes it's not worth it just yet. Edit: I singed the petition as well

I thought about this long time ago, about why such guan of online shopping doesn't accept bitcoin yet? I signed and hope my voice will mean something to that petition.

You should make a petition for the Japanese brand of Amazon first(there must be one, right?). They already have Bitcoin regulated. Other Amazons more likely to follow then.

If this is successful and is implemented, it would be great news for Amazon and Bitcoin Users, more payment methods = more convenience! 30% there already, I hope this petition can make an impact and possibly encourage Amazon to add BTC. I want PayPal to add BTC too, and I think PayPal is also widely used in many countries by businesses and companies, hopefully either one can adopt Bitcoin.

I don't think that such a petition would change much. Amazon processes transaction through cetnralized technologies, BTC isn't ready to take the volume this single company has at the time and would make its use as currency much more inconvenient with a rising price along with rising fees.

Also one can if someone wants to use bitcoin in Amazon.com, there are already gift card services that would allow buy Amazon gift cards with Bitcoin. I don't think that Amazon would put it high in priority because anyone that wants to buy in Amazon with Bitcoins already can

I bought recently an alienware by paying directly bitcoin. I think dell is the only company on amazon that accepts bitcoin as mode of payment. And if dell accept then it is possible that amazon will fully adopt it. Amazon might hurry or else alibaba will overtake to it.

Even if the petition is met, I don't think Amazon would even consider adding bitcoin as one of its payment options given the hassle that they would face in converting plus additional regulations that they would need to meet. Aside from that, it wouldn't be a popular option since rising fees are also a problem.
Signed the petition anyways.

I did too but I am not expecting anything from the whole petition. If you think about it from a business standpoint, there is no need for Amazon to except cryptocurrencies. They have no need for censorship resistance and decentralized payments.

As far as I know, there have been lots of petition made (or related thing to that) that being brought to Amazon to start accepting bitcoin payment. And I think Amazon already knows the request and demands for this by the people but still they aren't implementing it yet or putting it on consideration. This petition however will bump the concern.
Just signed it as I see no problem with it.

This is a good idea. Best it is trialed in Japan before it goes worldwide. Especially as I don't think bitcoin can cope with large volumes of transactions at the moment.

Though I signed it but it is less likely that Amazon will go for it since they have so many transactions & their margins must be pretty low ? so it won't be sustainable.

Signed.
However the major points to consider:
- what good will bitcoin bring if Amazon has support of only a handful of nations around the world? Before implementing bitcoin as a payment method, Amazon needs to expand into more countries.
- will this bring them more revenue vs the cost of setting this up? Ultimately their number one priority is to give shareholders more money.
-This decision will ultimately be up to Jeff Bezos. I don't think that a petition would really help, although there's a chance as always.
But if Amazon did implement btc, that would be the start of mass adoption IMO.

True because sometimes being first or at least early gives an advantage. Even if accepting bitcoins as payment would only bring in a small number of customers, being on the cutting edge could be beneficial down the road. They could be seen as leaders in this area and you never know if it could result in savings for them or even more efficiency.

These type of petitions will not have the desired effects (there's a lot of research to show the limited impact of petitions in commercial world). I still signed it of course, but I will next wonder if Amazon's acceptance will do anything for Bitcoin. Didn't Microsoft accept Bitcoin? Even Paypal at one point. And it didn't do much for adoption, did it?
