Running 4 gpus on Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3?

I am wonder if it is possible to run 4 cards on a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard?

And if it is.. How would that work?

I know i would have to get powered risers and raise them up..

Looks to me like you could run 7 with the right adapters.  Risers, a PCI -> PCIExpress converter and plenty of power.  I find that multiple small power supplies are cheaper than one big one.

Yes, you're exactly correct. You should use at least one powered riser or two to be safe. Also invest in a quality power supply with more than your minimum required wattage.
I exact have the same motherboard on one of my rigs with a Corsair AX1200. Just don't forget to disable any features on the mobo in the BIOS that you dont need (firewire, sound, etc.) to save a bit more power.
