Can somebody explain to me who or what motivation people have to be using DDOS atacks on pools

Who or why are they doing this unless it is other pool operators BTC community or aliens  Huh

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

As a victim myself, it's pretty simple. Attacked pool -> less network hash -> difficulty stays lower -> profitability stays higher

The cost of a booter to knock a pool offline is quite cheap. The cost of a network to block a booter is quite expensive. "DDoS" protection that typical hosts sell is in the range of 10 Gbit/s 5M PPS attacks, and that might block a weak booter. Protection is needed in the 20Gbit+ range and it costs 2-4k/month for that kind of blocking power. What I'm trying to say is that it's kind of like a "why not?" attack to spend a couple bucks on a booter to take down a mostly defenseless pool.

RIP my old pools... sometimes BTC isn't life ;(

Like everyone said, it's a lot easier for the person doing the ddos then the person trying to stop it. Also, every time the major pools fall under this kind of attack, people freak out, get emotional, and in turn there is volatility, which is what day traders need to make money.
